Jimmie Johnson attended Granite Hills High School and spent his free time racing motorcycles. By 1993, he had established himself as a top race-car driver

In 1996, Jimmie began driving for Herzog Motorsports in the off-road truck series. He moved to SOSA’s Class 8 the following year and continued with his impressive performance. 

He raced in amateur contests until 1997, when he became a professional racing driver. Before becoming a professional, Jimmie had managed over 25 wins, six championships and Rookie of the Year awards. 

A member of the American Speed Association, Jimmie made his NASCAR Busch Series debut at the Indianapolis Raceway Park event in 1998. 

He transitioned to NASCAR Cup Series in 2002 and won the All-Star race in 2003. In that race, Jimmie finished ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr, who later became his teammate.

Jimmie waited for three years before winning his seventh championship. His performance deteriorated in the following years until he ended his final full-time season in 2020.
