Tiger Woods was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame on Wednesday after decades of inspiring a generation of golfers.

His dreamy golfing talent, influence, and stunning success have served generations.

Woods gave a speech about his career and people who assisted him along the road during the induction ceremony at the PGA Tour headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Sam Woods, his 14-year-old daughter introduced him to the audience.

IS TIGER WOODS IN THE HALL OF FAME?

Former PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem, 11-time LPGA winner Susie Maxwell Berning, and the late Marion Hollins, one of the sport’s few female golf course planners, were also inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Woods, 46, became emotional as he recalled how his parents took out a second mortgage on their home for him to be on their American Junior Golf Association circuit.

Woods was 14 years old at the time and it pained him seeing his parents sacrifice so much for him. He later paid the mortgage.

He credits his success in life to his parents who always supported him in every aspect.

“You have to understand I got to this position because of my upbringing, having two unbelievable parents. I know that golf is an individual sport, we do things on our own a lot, for hours on end, but in my case I didn’t get here alone.

“I have unbelievable parents, mentors and friends who … supported me in the toughest of times, darkest of times and celebrated the highest of times,” he said according to Reuters.

WHEN DID TIGER WOODS START PLAYING GOLF?

When Woods was two years old, he appeared on Mike Douglas’ TV Show with Bob Hope. He showed off his raw putting skills, surprising many people with his rare talent.

Since then, golf fans expected him to do something incredible on the course. Woods turned pro in 1996 and won his first tournament on the PGA Tour in just his fifth start.

This changed the game because it had never been dominated by a Black golfer and raised the bar for how athletic golfers could be.

At first, Woods was a big hit on TV. As the sport became more popular, prize money at PGA Tour events rose as well.

To put it another way: He has won 93 events around the world and 15 major championships, which is less than Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18.

As a modern golfer, Woods is the only one to win all four major tournaments in a row. In 2000, he won three major tournaments in a row: the U.S. Open and the British Open, and then the Masters in 2001.

He was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom after he won the 2019 Masters. It came after years of surgery and personal problems that many thought meant he was done.

Woods says the passion pushed him so hard into playing golf, and he would never let anyone stop him.

He credits his father for showing him the power of being twice as good in everything you do.
