Early Life

Ashley Young biography has it that he was born in Stevenage, England, on July 9, 1985. He attended The John Henry Newman School in his home town.

Young was in the same year as F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, and they played school football together. He grew up supporting Arsenal, and his role model was the Gunners’ legend Ian Wright.

Just like the majority of young boys in England, Ashley Young joined a football academy. He developed at Watford’s academy, and by the time he turned 16, he was already playing for the Under-18s.

Career

Ashley Young was handed his senior debut for Watford in September 2003 by manager Ray Lewington. He scored in the match, which was against Millwall.

Young would later get four more appearances but as a substitute. By the end of the season, he had scored three goals.

The future Aston Villa captain started attracting the attention of top teams during the 2004-05 season.

Aston Villa

After Ashley Young rejected a move to West Ham, whose bid Watford had accepted, Aston Villa came knocking. The young talented player wanted to join a team which was not struggling in the relegation zone, and Aston Villa was a perfect choice at that time.

He scored on his debut for Aston Villa on January 31, 2007, even though they lost the match 3-1 to Newcastle United.

Young quickly adapted to the Premier League and became one of the best wingers terrorizing defenders.

Manchester United completed the signing of Ashley Young on June 23, 2011, for a fee of around 17 million euros. Young, who played as a forward, quickly established himself as a Red Devils regular starter in his first season.

When manager Louis van Gaal joined Manchester United, he made Ashley Young play as a wing-back. Young would later transition to a right-back and play there until leaving Manchester United in 2018.

During his time with the Red Devils, Ashley Young won a Premier League title, FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and a UEFA Europa League.

Inter Milan

Ashley Young joined Inter Milan in January 2020 for a fee of around 1.28 million euros. Young was one of Inter Milan’s best players as they won Serie A at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Back To Aston Villa

Ashley Young joined Aston Villa for the second time in his career on June 17, 2021. He became a free agent after his contract with Villa expired at the end of the 2021-22 season.

However, Aston Villa re-signed him one month after he became a free agent. He is currently the captain of the Premier League side.
