Vince McMahon Early Life

Vince was born in Pinehurst, North Carolina, U.S., on August 24, 1945. His first name was Vince Lupton because he didn’t know his real father. Vince had a difficult childhood as he lived with his mother and stepfathers.

One of his stepfathers, Leo Lupton, was so violent. At one point, he beat both Vince and his mother mercilessly. 

The former WWE CEO knew his real father, Vince McMahon Sr. when he was 12. McMahon Sr. was a famous wrestling promoter. He returned to his family after Vince’s intervention. 

Vince has always wanted to be a professional wrestler since his childhood days. However, his father didn’t let him be a wrestler because he feared for his health. Vince’s father also felt his son didn’t have enough height to make it in the wrestling industry.

Career

Vince McMahon followed the footsteps of his father in the wrestling industry. He often accompanied his father on trips to Madison Square Garden. 

The legendary wrestling promoter made his debut as an in-ring announcer for his father’s WWWF’s All-Star Wrestling in 1969. He became a play-by-play commentator for television matches in 1971. He regularly maintained the role until November 1997. 

Vince McMahon bought his father’s company Capito Wrestling Corporation in 1982. The company was by then run by regional promoters. He is responsible for transforming the sport into what it is now.

Capito Wrestling Corporation was later known as World Wrestling Foundation (WWF) between 1970-2002. The name of McMahon’s company eventually changed to what wrestling fans now know, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). 

Apart from being the owner, Vince McMahon is also a former wrestler. The legendary American superstar has feuded with several wrestlers in the ring. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan are among famous wrestlers who have fought with Vince in the ring.
