If the Glazer family, the club’s current owners, decided to sell Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe would be highly interested in making the purchase. 

A representative for the billionaire owner of Ineos revealed through a spokesperson that the English businessman views himself as a “potential buyer” of the Red Ratcliffe, who admits to being a supporter of Manchester United, and has the objective of eventually acquiring complete control of the club in the foreseeable future.

Jim Raticliffe attempted to buy Chelsea

The 69-year-old businessman recently made an offer to buy Chelsea. However, the club’s current owner Todd Boehly, and the consortium he leads were able to beat his late offer and take ownership of the London club.

In May, Ratcliffe made a last-ditch offer of £4.25 billion to buy the Stamford Bridge club. But after expressing his interest in Manchester United, he now has his sights set on becoming the club’s owner.

‘If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer,’ the spokesman told The Times.

Within the organization’s existing ownership structure, the Glazer family has the lion’s share of power. Avram and Joel Glazer serving as the primary spokespeople.

They bought the club in 2005, and despite receiving vast amounts of criticism since their takeover, This has increased the level of discontentment.

A Bloomberg investigation disclosed that the Glazers now value United at approximately £5 billion, and they have started first negotiations about bringing in new investment. United was purchased for $790 million by the Glazers.

After 17 years at the helm of the Premier League, there has been no indication that they are prepared to authorise the complete sale of their Premier League asset.

Jim Ratcliffe owns Nice FC

The owner of Ineos is no stranger to the world of sporting investments. He purchased the Ligue 1 team Nice in 2019 for £85 million. He has made significant investments in the squad ever since he took control of it.

In addition, they are the owners and managers of the professional cycling team known as Team Ineos and essential partners of the Mercedes Formula One team and the New Zealand All Blacks. They have also made additional investments in sailing.
