Early Life

Marcus Rashford was born in Manchester, England on October 31, 1997. Rashford lived in Fallowfield, Withington and Wythenshawe during his childhood. 

Melanie Maynard, Marcus Rashford’s mother, is a single parent. 

Marcus Rashford began playing football at the age of five. He started his career as a goalkeeper at Fletcher Moss Rangers. The young Rashford later switched to an attacker and played a huge role when his team won a local tournament. 

After the tournament, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Everton showed interest in Rashford. He went for trials at Manchester City before joining Manchester United’s academy at the age of seven. 

Marcus Rashford got the Manchester United Schoolboy Scholars scheme when he was 11. The scheme is usually reserved for players 12 and above.

Rashford began playing cage football at United’s academy alongside Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba. The England international was part of the Red Devils under-15 that finished as runner-up in the 23rd annual Marveld tournament.
