The “Sunshine Double” continues in Miami after the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells. Qualifying matches always start it off.

HOW DOES MIAMI OPEN WORK?

Aside from the four Grand Slams, the Miami Open is one of the biggest competitions in the sport.

It’s common for a tournament to have a day and night session, but the Miami Open has them. In the Stadium Court, the Day session begins at 10:00 a.m. and usually, four matches are played. At 7:00 p.m., the Evening Session begins.

Due to the nature of the weather, the number of games that can be played is always subject to vary.

The West Lawn and locations with a view of the video board now have more shaded structures.

This year’s ticket packages include a wide variety of possibilities. Additionally, there are a variety of other options available, such as partial tournament packages, luxury suites, family packages, and more.

WHO OWNS MIAMI OPEN?

The Miami Open traces its ownership to IMG and Stephen Ross. They teamed up to develop a permanent world-class tennis facility that enhances the spectator experience while retaining a distinctively Miami aesthetic.

Having an international tennis tournament in Miami was a dream of the 1960s, and it has been realized.

World-class tennis players like Jack Kramer and Frank Sedgman travelled across the country in a station wagon, playing tennis at night in dimly lit arenas and fairgrounds.

It was before the Open Tennis era, and they travelled with a canvas court and a lot of optimism. With chronic tennis elbow, Buchholz was forced to retire from tennis in 1970.

He was an initial member of Lamar Hunt’s World Championship Tennis Circuit’s “Handsome Eight.”

The tournament’s sponsor changed after the 2014 event. The Miami Open, formerly known as the Sony Open, was renamed the Miami Open sponsored by Itau in honour of Itau, the largest privately-owned bank in Latin America.

The 2019 event was held for the first time in Hard Rock Stadium, the NFL team’s home stadium in Miami, instead of Key Biscayne.
