Four things spotted in Manchester United’s training ahead of Liverpool clash

Manchester United
  • Manchester United will be facing Liverpool on matchday three. The Red Devils will travel to Anfield on Monday to try and get their first win of the season.
  • Eric ten Hag has been busy with the players this week training as they prepare for the match.
  • Youngsters like James Garner, Charlie Savage and Ethan Galbraith were training with the senior players in Carrington.

Manchester United will be facing Liverpool on Monday at Anfield. Both teams will be looking for their first Premier League win of the 2022-23 season

Liverpool have two points after getting two draws in their first two league matches of the season. The Reds were first held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham on matchday one at the Craven Cottage. They then lost two crucial points as Anfield as Crystal Palace held them to a 1-1 draw.

On the other side, Manchester United have had no win in their past two league matches. The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford before suffering a 4-0 humiliation to Brentford.

Manchester United have low odds of winning against Liverpool on matchday three. Nevertheless, the Red Devils have been training hard this week.

Eric ten Hag is still trying to instil his philosophy of the game into Manchester United players. Few things were spotted at Carrington as Manchester United trained ahead of Liverpool’s clash on Monday.

1. Working together

Manchester United players lacked teamwork last weekend when Brentford thrashed them 4-0. Eric ten Hag is instilling the spirit of working together in Manchester United players.

The Red Devils’ players were seen using the work together strategy at Carrington this week. The players were pressing as a team once they lost the ball. They were also going back to defend as a team.

The Red Devils could be a threat to Liverpool if they master the work together technique they were using at Carrington.

2. Youngsters train with the senior team

Eric ten Hag is desperate to get the best out of his players. The Dutch manager allowed several Manchester United academy stars to train with the senior team.

Apart from James Garner, several youngsters like Charlie Savage, Ethan Galbraith and Matej Kovar trained with the senior team.

It will not be a surprise if the Dutch manager decides to include youngsters in the squad that will face Liverpool.

3. New midfield partnership

Manchester United have a problem in their midfield position. The Red Devils’ midfielders have not performed well in the past two league games.

Manchester United’s defensive midfielders are not solid like they should be. Things didn’t go well against Brentford when Eric ten Hag used Fred and Christian Eriksen as defensive midfielders.

Eric ten Hag could be planning to use a different defensive midfield partnership against Liverpool on Monday. Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek could be the defensive midfielders to play against the Reds. The two were seen exercising together at Carrington this week.

They played as teammates at the training ground, and it should not come as a surprise if ten Hag uses the duo in the midfield against Liverpool.

As ten Hag tries to find the best partnership to use in the midfield, Manchester United are in the market targeting high-quality midfielders. The Red Devils are weighing on other options after Adrien Rabiot couldn’t agree to personal terms with the club.

Manchester United have discussed Casemiro as a potential midfield target. Manchester United want to sign the Real Madrid midfield maestro before the window closes on September 1.

4. James Garner present at Carrington

James Garner is among the players Manchester United want to offload this summer transfer window. The youngsters could join the list of players like Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Paul Pogba, who already left Old Trafford.

According to MEN Sports, Manchester United value James Garner between 15 million euros and 20 million euros. However, the Red Devils are yet to receive an offer for the young talented midfielder. He was at the training ground in Carrington this week.

Other players who attended training yet could leave this summer are Eric Bailly and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Manchester United are waiting for an appropriate offer from Crystal Palace to release Wan-Bissaka.
