Lewis Hamilton has referred to Sebastian Vettel as “one of the nicest guys” Formula One has ever known. He praises the Auston Martin driver for being one of the few individuals to follow him in the latest days in speaking out about social concerns.

In terms of a variety of social and divisive topics, like racial and gender discrimination within and outside of Formula One and protesting anti-gay laws, Hamilton and Vettel have easily been the sport’s most outspoken drivers.

In solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community during races in some nations, they have both commonly sported Pride colours before or on their racing helmets.

“When I talk about the journey that I’ve felt I’ve experienced in this sport and often feeling that it’s been relatively lonely, he’s one of the few people that’s made it not feel lonely,”

After a stellar career in motorsport, Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement after the 2022 season.

The German said he would “take more time to ponder what I will focus on next.” He declared that prioritising more time with his family was important. Vettel described his decision as difficult and that he’s spent much time contemplating it.

The good news is that Vettel appears to be very satisfied with his choice. Change is necessary for advancement, and Vettel thinks there are more chances outside the F1 grid than within its constrained and frequently exclusive confines.

Vettel will retire from racing as one of the most accomplished athletes in history.

Only Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, and Juan Manuel Fangio have more world championships than Vettel, while only Schumacher and Fangio have more race victories than his 53.

In recent years, he has developed into a vocal advocate for social and environmental causes.

Although Vettel has historically avoided social media, he opened an Instagram account on Thursday, shortly before announcing his retirement, and his biography there refers to him as a “public person.”

Vettel’s genuine self has grown more apparent due to his increased ability to express himself.

He has served as a Grand Prix Drivers’ Association director for a number of years and has developed into a powerful spokesperson on essential world problems, particularly climate disasters.

Hamilton rejected the idea that Formula One would suffer if drivers like him and Sebastian Vettel stopped competing.

Since their appearances in 2007, both drivers have dominated modern Formula One, taking home 11 titles between them.

Although they’ve never really had the opportunity to connect outside of an F1 context, Hamilton said their relationship had gotten better as they’ve gotten older. He hopes to rectify that in the future.
