The Los Angeles Lakers helped Bryant win his first NBA title in 2000 as a young player. Lakers gave a championship ring to every player, and Kobe had a different thought.

The 2000 NBA championship ring of the late Kobe Bryant is up for auction as part of Goldin Auctions’ March Elite Sports Auction.

There were seven offers as of Thursday night, the highest being $54,000. The 40 diamonds in the 14-karat gold ring were a present from Kobe’s son to his father, Joe Bryant. Bidding closes at 10 p.m. on March 30.

According to Business Insider, Kobe gifted his mother Pamela Bryant, a similar ring that went for $206,000 at Goldin Auctions in 2020. Pamela sold the ring to a private collector for $280,000 in 2013.

The sports memorabilia and auction marketplace Goldin Auctions states that “this is not an executive version of the Championship ring, but the same exact ring given to Kobe Bryant and other Lakers players” in the ring’s description.

How Many Rings Did Kobe Bryant Have?

During his storied NBA career, the basketball legend accumulated an incredible collection of championship rings. In his twenty years as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Bryant won five NBA championship rings.

When the Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Finals to win the championship in the 1999–2000 season, it was his first taste of championship glory.

Alongside teammate Shaquille O’Neal, Bryant played a crucial role that cemented his reputation as one of the league’s rising talents.

Bryant and the Lakers won the NBA championship again in 2009 after a brief championship drought, coming through in the Finals against the Orlando Magic.

The Lakers’ championship run continued the following year when Bryant defeated the Boston Celtics in a thrilling seven-game series to claim his fifth and final ring in the 2009–2010 campaign.

On the basketball court, Bryant’s unmatched skill, determination and leadership remain with his five championship rings.

He won multiple awards during his career, including All-Star selections, NBA Most Valuable Player awards, and All-NBA Team distinctions.

Some of the notable sports memorabilia which he owned and have now been auctioned include game-worn jerseys. Several of his jerseys which he wore throughout his career have fetched significant sums in auctions.

A jersey from his 2008 playoff run, famously pictured with Bryant celebrating a three-pointer, sold for a staggering $5.8 million in 2023.  Other game-worn jerseys have sold for amounts ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In addition, his championship rings have also attracted significant interest like in the case of his 200 championship ring.

Further, his signed memorabilia such as shoes, basketballs, and other items which he signed remain popular collectables.  The value depends on the specific item and the context surrounding it.  For instance, a basketball signed right after a significant performance would likely command a higher price.

Other collectibles such as game tickets, programs, and even limited-edition sneakers associated with Bryant have also been included in auctions.
