  • Tiger Wood has announced his return to competition for the first time since his appearance at St Andrews in July.
  • The 46-year-old will return to action on December 1st at his own event, Hero World Challenge.

Former world No. 1 Tiger Woods has announced that he will return to action next month at Hero World Challenge.

It’s been nearly four months since we saw Tiger Woods hit a golf shot. Woods has not played since his teary-eyed walk up the 18th fairway in what could prove to be his final Open at St Andrews.

But the wait will be over in a few weeks as we will see the 46-year-old join the limited field in his event at Albany in the Bahamas.

Tiger Woods announced his return via Twitter on Wednesday evening.

“I am excited to announce that I will be in the field for this year’s HeroWorldChallenge. A big welcome to @K-Kisner and Tommy Fleetwood1 for joining us as well. See you soon at Albany!”

Apart from Tommy Fleetwood and Kevin Kisner, there are other 17 players who will join Tiger Woods on the field.

The Hero World Challenge takes place from 1-4 December every year.

Well, it’s not the first time that Tiger Woods is making a return to golf through the Hero World Challenge event. He has been using the event to make comebacks after recovering from injuries and surgeries over the last decade.

During his comeback in 2017, Tiger Woods stirred conversations as to whether he could return to his peak after racing to the top of the leaderboard.

The American international didn’t compete in last year’s Hero World Challenge but went through several practice sessions. He showed off full swings with 3-wood and driver, which certainly got his fans just in time to watch him compete against his son Charlie in the PNC Championships.

But this year’s Hero World Challenge will be a tough one for the former World No.1, who has not been in action for some time.

Tiger Woods’ 19 competitors are all elite, and he will have to be at his best to emerge victorious. Kevin Kisner, ranked 31 in the world, is the lowest-ranked participant at the Hero World Challenge event.

Tiger Woods’ exit at St Andrews was not a good example of his performance. The disappointing effort was more emotional than anything as he walked up the 18th to an incredible ovation from the crowd.

The American international spoke afterwards, saying he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to participate on the Old Course in a future Open.

Tiger Woods has said several times that he won’t compete in a full PGA Tour after he was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles last year.
