The New York event is the last of the four major Grand Slams of the year. However, there are a string of other Masters 1000 and Masters 500 events before and after the Grand Slams.
They are governed by ATP Tour and WTA but the four slams have bigger cash prizes. That’s why you can easily pick the highest paid tennis player 2022. Here they are from top to bottom.
IGA SWIATEK ($6.6 MILLION)

Iga Swiatek, the current No. 1 on the women’s tennis tour, has won the most money in tennis this season. It is an incredible feat that she tops in both WTA and ATP circuits.
Her four WTA 1000 titles, Stuttgart 500 title, and second Grand Slam victory at Flushing Meadows bagged her $6.6 million. That’s despite the fact that she is pretty new in the WTA tour.
RAFAEL NADAL ($6.4 MILLION)

Rafael Nadal ranks among the highest paid tennis player 2022. He won the Australian Open and the French Open for men’s singles this year thereby earning $6.4 million.
He bounce back from months of injury he picked in the 2021 season. Nadal has had a phenomenal season, winning three major titles (the French Open, the Australian Open, and the Mexican Open).
He was on his way to completing the Calendar Slam until a torn abdominal muscle retired him early at Wimbledon. The Spaniard withdrew from his semi-final match against Nick Kyrgios who faced off with Novak Djokovic in the finals.
CARLOS ALCARAZ ($4.3 MILLION)

Carlos Alcaraz, an up-and-comer scooped four titles this year. The Spanish teen prodigy stunned the tennis world by defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets to claim the Madrid Open.
He became the second-youngest player to win two Masters 1000 championships. Besides, he also won the Rio Open, the Barcelona Open, and the Miami Masters.
Incredibly, the young Spaniard has already earned $4.3 million on the tennis tour this year.
NOVAK DJOKOVIC ($4.2 MILLION)

Novak Djokovic made up for lost time by winning the Rome Masters after missing the first Major of the year because of his vaccination status.
On Center Court, the Serb defeated Australian Nick Kyrgios 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3) to win his sixth Wimbledon championship. So far this year, he has earned $4.2 million.
Despite his tough year, he still managed a slot on the highest paid tennis player 2022 list.
STEFANO TSITSIPAS ($3.6 MILLION)

The Rome Masters final between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina went the distance. Tsitsipas emerged victorious in straight sets (6-3, 7-6(3)).
He then defeated Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2) to claim the Mallorca Open. This victory was his first on grass.
This year, the world No.4 advanced to the semifinals at the Australian Open and the fourth round at the French Open.
ONS JABEUR ($3.4 MILLION)
Ons Jabeur has had a fantastic 2022 season. To date, her most famous victory remains the Madrid Open. She made history as the first Tunisian and Arab tennis player to win at the tournament.
She reached her first Major final at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, however her hopes were dashed by Elena Rybakina. So far, Jabeur’s tennis prowess has won her an impressive $3.4 million.
ELENA RYBAKINA ($3.3 MILLION)
At the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, Elena Rybakina won her first and only major tennis tournament. She won the Wimbledon title after coming back from a set down to beat Ons Jabeur 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in an exciting match.
CASPER RUUD ($2.9 MILLION)
On June 13, 2022, Casper Ruud reached his highest ever singles rating of No. 5. He became the highest ranked Norwegian tennis player in history.
He has a total of eight singles victories on the ATP Tour two of which are in 2022.
FRITZ TAYLOR ($2.9 MILLION)
He is the reigning Argentina Open champion. He clinched his sixth career ATP 250 crown in the tournament.
Soon after, he won the Geneva Open and then made it all the way to the finals of Roland Garros. He played against the King of clay Rafael Nadal but lost. Nevertheless, it was a huge success playing in the finals of a major Grand Slam.
Throughout the 2022 season, Fritz has been on a tear. At the Indian Wells Masters, he defeated Nadal in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(5), for his first victory of the year.
After that, the 24-year-old won the Rothesay International right before Wimbledon by beating fellow countryman Maxime Cressy 6-2, 6-7, 7-6.
His finest Grand Slam tournament performance was a quarterfinal appearance at SW19.
ALEXANDER ZVEREV
Alexander Zverev had an impressive tennis season in 2022, reaching the finals of multiple ATP tournaments. He delivered a dominant performance at the 2022 French Open.
He was down to face Nadal in the finals, but he had to pull out with an ankle injury. Zverev has made $2.6 million so far this year, and there’s every potential he’ll be able to increase that sum once he is healthy again.
