- The FPL season is approaching fast, and managers are in the process of acquring the best players
- However, there are some players managers should consider avoiding in the market
- Some of the teams have already finished their market business
The Gameweek 1 due dates for FPL are only some days ahead, which means the Premier League is about to commence.
While some managers would continuously switch their squads, others would have their squads locked in. Many Premier League clubs have completed their summer business.
However, some teams are still trying to add new players and let some go. This might also have an impact on what goes on in the FPL world.
Eddie Nketiah – 7m

At the tail end of the previous campaign, Nketiah made his debut for Arsenal. He finished the season with five league goals, all of which came in the second half.
Even after signing a new, long-term contract with the team, Nketiah will only serve as Gabriel Jesus’ support.
Nketiah seems like a player to ignore on FPL 2022–23 due to his little playing time and increased completion.
James Ward-Prowse – 6.5m
The skipper of Southampton finished the 2017 FPL season as his team’s top scorer with 159 points.
Managers should keep James Ward Prowse away even with his identical 6.5 million price tag. The points a midfielder scores are always unevenly distributed and primarily reliant on free kicks and penalties.
It is best to avoid signing Jsmes Ward-Prowse
Philippe Coutinho – 7m
After joining Aston Villa on a loan deal in January, Coutinho has now made a permanent commitment.
When the Brazilian midfielder joined Steven Gerrard’s team, he had an immediate influence.
But as the season’s final stretch approached, his engagement and goal returns diminished. Presently, Coutinho is owned by 18% of all FPL managers worldwide.
But with Leon Bailey getting back to 100% health and peak performance, Coutinho might not even make the Aston Villa starting eleven.
Declan Rice- 5m

The FPL price for the West Ham United captain this year is $5 million. The midfielder is anticipating a reasonably similar performance this year after scoring 95 total points the previous year.
There are numerous more affordable possibilities, such as Fulham’s Andreas Pereireas well as Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey, that are of higher quality.
Conor Gallagher – 6m
Last season, the midfielder was on loan at Crystal Palace. He spent most of the 2021–20 season playing for Patrick Vieira’s team, scoring 140 points overall.
However, he has moved back to Chelsea this season, so there is no assurance that he will receive playing time before players like Jorginho and Kanté.
Therefore FPL managers should avoid this player
Sergio Reguilón – 4.5m
Last year, the Spaniard was the prefered wing-back, and it appeared that he would keep that position this year. Antonio Conte, however, had other ideas.
Ivan Perii, who joined on a free transfer from Inter, is expected to start the new campaign as the team’s left wing-back of choice. Reguilon has been placed on the market, and Ryan Sessegnon is expected to keep playing as the backup.
Bruno Guimarães – 6m
The headline-grabbing acquisition purchased by the new Newcastle United owners during the January transfer period was Guimaraes.
In 17 Premier League games in the second part of last season, the Brazilan, who cost close to €50 million to acquire, scored five goals and provided one assist.
The midfielder, though, played a more profound role than usual and appeared set to stay in that role going forwards.
In FPL 2022–23, Guimaraes now owns 16 per cent of the stock. But Guimaraes appears to be a clear avoid because better players are available for less money.
Bernardo Silva – 7m

The Portuguese great scored 155 points overall and had a scorching first half of the previous season. But during the second half of the season, he lost his unique ability, and his FPL ownership drastically decreased along with it.
This year, Silva is not likely to play on the wings because Kalvin Phillips’ acquisition gives the midfield greater depth. Silva has attracted interest from Barcelona, and there is a probability he will leave Manchester this summer.
Dejan Kulusevski – 8m/ Richarlison – 8.5m
Kulusevski moved to Spurs during the January transfer period, and the second half of the previous campaign saw him shine. He totalled 99 points in the league thanks to 5 goals and eight assists.
However, the acquisition of Richarlison for a rumoured $60 million could result in little playing time for the two players.
Richarlison can play as the striker as well, although he won’t see much action. The Brazilian is also barred from the season’s first game on top of all that.
Darwin Núñez – 9m
Liverpool acquired Darwin Nunez for a staggering £85 million transfer. Last season, the Uruguayan striker made 41 appearances in all competitions, scored 34 goals, and provided four assists.
Nunez seems to be a lock to start after Sadio Mane’s transfer to Bayern Munich, as well as Diogo Jota’s injury.
However, the forward might need some time to adjust to the English Top Division, and Jurgen Klopp might also gradually introduce him into his starting line-up.
