Mo Salah left out of the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year shortlist

  • On Friday, UEFA announced the names of the top three nominees for the 2021/22 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award.
  • Mohamed Salah is not among the three players on the final list. Karim Benzema, Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois are the nominees.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been left out of the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year shortlist.

Mo Salah was on the list of 15 players initially nominated for the award several weeks ago. The 15 players were selected by the UEFA technical study group based on their performance last season for club and country.

The final list of the three nominees was then decided by journalists and coaches. They used a points system to decide who would make it to the top three shortlist. The coaches were not allowed to vote for players from their teams.

Mohamed Salah failed to make it to the top three nominees for the 2021-22 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year. The award winner will be announced on August 25 at the Haliç Congress Center in Istanbul.

The three players who have been nominated for the award are Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois and Kevin De Bruyne. The three players played in the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League finals.

Thibaut Courtois and Karim Benzema played huge roles for Real Madrid last season. They helped the Los Blancos win the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

Thibaut Courtois was Real Madrid’s best player during some matches, especially in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Karim Benzema is the favourite to win the award. The Frenchman gave epic performances for Real Madrid during the UEFA Champions League matches played last season. He was the tournament’s top goal scorer with 15 goals.

Benzema was named the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League Player of the Season due to his outstanding performance. He also helped Real Madrid win the 2021-22 La Liga title scoring 27 league goals. It should, therefore, not come as a surprise if the Real Madrid forward wins the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.

Kevin De Bruyne scored 15 Premier League goals for Manchester City during their league campaign last season. He managed to find the back of the net twice at the UEFA Champions League. He helped the Cytizens reach the semi-finals of the tournament, where Real Madrid knocked them out.

Mohamed Salah, who has not been nominated in the final list of three players, played a big role for Liverpool last season. He helped the Reds reach the finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they finished as runner-up. Salah scored eight goals in 11 Champions League appearances last season.
