Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time Formula One (F1) world champion, is taking his summer vacation in Africa in a show defying expectations.

The Mercedes driver explained to his followers that he decided to spend his time off the tracks in Africa in order to get in touch with his heritage.

He said that this summer, he will finally accomplish something he’s been meaning to do for a long time. He said that this voyage has been a humbling experience would be an understatement.

He wrote on his Instagram that he’s finally tracing his ancestors via Africa. The tour of Africa by the famous British Formula One driver began in Namibia. You can see he is having a good time from the photos he shared online.

In one of the pictures he posted, he strikes a confident pose while hot air balloons lined up in the backdrop.

The journey of Namibia, he says, gave him a new outlook on life, and he can feel a shift coming. His impression of Africa is colored by the continent’s natural splendor: its wildlife, desert, valleys, and dunes.

“This has been a life changing reset. I feel like I have gained a new perspective on life, grown an even stronger love for animals and became even closer with my brothers who I’ve shared this special journey with.

“Everywhere I look I’m surrounded by so much beauty, and I feel truly re-centred and at peace. My first stop was Namibia, one of the most stunning places I’ve ever seen with my own eyes. Words and pictures do not do it justice,” he expressed.

“The highlight of his time in Namibia was a “surreal” hot air balloon ride. The balloon ride was out of this world, he says adding he will never forget the harrowing experience of landing sideways. Hamilton can’t think of any other way how I would like to spend my vacation time, this is the best option by far.

Thanks to its beautiful scenery, well-developed road network, and lower crime rate than neighboring countries, Namibia makes for an excellent vacation spot.

Every year, the tourist industry in Namibia contributes N$7.2 billion to the country’s gross domestic product. More than a million tourists visit Namibia annually, with South Africans accounting for the lion’s share. After the Germans come the British, the Italians, and finally the French.

Lewis Hamilton later arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on August 8 and immediately set off for Maasai Mara. The yearly wildebeest migration is at its height from the middle of August to late October, so his timing was perfect.

Between July and October, at least two million wildebeests make the journey across the Mara River to the Serengeti in Tanzania.

Maasai Mara is a popular destination for conservationists and wilderness tourists due to its high concentration of large mammals such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the African bush elephant.

It is a prime safari destination and a unique habitat for Kenya’s flora and fauna.

Hamilton was born on January 7, 1985, in the town of Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. Despite his mixed heritage, he sees himself as black. His mother, Carmen Larbalestier, is White British from Birmingham, while his father, Anthony Hamilton, is black and of Grenadian ancestry.

Teresa is a journalist with years of experience in creating web content. She is a wanderlust at heart, but an outgoing sports writer with focus on tennis, athletics, football, motorsports and NBA.
