Early Life 

Carmelo Anthony biography states that the basketball star was born on May 29, 1984, in New York City, New York, United States.

Carmelo’s father died of cancer when the future NBA star was just two years old. Carmelo attended Towson Catholic High School during his first three years in high school.

He played basketball in his neighbourhood and was named Baltimore Catholic League player of the year and The Baltimore Sun’s Player of the year in 2001.

Anthony led his team to the state championship, and though he couldn’t help them to win, he was named All-Metropolitan Player of the Year.

Young Anthony stated that he wanted to join Syracuse University, but his grades were way below the standards. As a result, he transferred to Oak Hill Academy in his senior year.

Before Anthony began attending Oak Hill Academy, he played in the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival. It was at this tournament that he met LeBron James, and the two began their friendship.

He led Oak Hill Academy to win The Les Schwab Invitation during the 2001/02 season.

He made his debut for the Nuggets in October 2003 and became the second-youngest NBA player to record 30 points in a game. Anthony received all the Rookie awards due to his performance.

He emerged second in the 2004 NBA Rookie of the Year voting. Anthony continued with his amazing performance the following season.

The power forward finished at the top eighth spot in the 2005-06 NBA season. The Denver Nuggets offered him a 5-year contract extension valued at $80 million.
