Early Life

Son Heung-min biography states that he was born in Chuncheon, the capital city of Gangwon, on July 8, 1992. 

He is the second and last child of Eun Ja Kil (mother) and Son Woong-Jung (father). 

Son grew up in Chuncheon, where he had a sporty childhood alongside his only brother, Heung-Yun Son.

However, he never played competitive football until he turned 14. This is because his father, a former footballer, believes that competitive football ruins the potential of young players by overworking their muscles. 

The future Tottenham Hotspurs star came through the academy at FC Seoul. He was a ball boy during certain FC Seoul matches, especially in 2008. 

Son joined Hamburg SV youth academy at the age of 16. He was one of the best players of Hamburger SV during the 2010-11 season. He scored nine goals at the end of the season and signed his first professional contract at the club.
