It’s no longer a secret that Mcllroy is divorcing his wife of seven years. The couple charmed a lot of people back in the day but the golfer has since filed for divorce from Stoll.

He filed the divorce in Palm Beach County, Florida where they lived together with their three-year-old daughter, Poppy.

Court documents seen by the New York Post indicate that Mcllroy – Stoll marriage was completely broken and he is seeking joint custody of their daughter.

The reason for their divorce is unknown and sources close to the couple cite that all seemed well between the couple.

His filing for divorce came as a shocker because he has maintained his form amid behind-the-scene happenings.

Unlike in some other cases where marital issues affect productivity and performance, this is not the case for the English golfer.

He is set to play at the PGA Championship later this week chasing his fifth major.  Mcllroy is hopeful of winning the tournament at the iconic Valhalla Golf Club where he bagged his first major title in 2014.

He is ending his marriage with Stoll whom he has been married to for the last seven years. Following the announcement of his impending divorce on Tuesday night, McIlroy chose not to attend the PGA Championship supper.

The Ulsterman and World No. 2 have already been a part of several high-profile romances. His love misadventures, particularly his early relationship with Meghan Markle, have put him in the line of controversy.

Meghan is now the Duchess of Sussex after marrying British Royal Prince Harry. She has been a major part of Rory’s life since they started dating when he was just 16 years old.

After nearly eight years of dating, Rory once said in 2011 that he was deeply grateful for her support, but had to let her go.

He said that she knew him better than anyone else but had to end the relationship amicably.

McIlroy shortly after met tennis star Caroline Wozniacki during a boxing match and fell in love with her after his breakup with the former American actress.

He dated her for three years and engaged her in 2013 but their relationship quickly deteriorated after the engagement.

Reports had it that McIlroy ended the relationship with Wozniacki in a quick three-minute phone conversation.

The tennis star had already started sending out wedding invitations when the PGA Tour star called off the relationship. He would later admit that it was difficult being in a relationship with a fellow sports star.

Mcllroy also admitted that there was no better way to end a relationship with a person you have known for years.

He asserted that reality hit him that he was never ready for marriage when Wozniacki started sending out wedding invitations.

“The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we’ve had,” The Mirror reported.

“I thought at the time that being with someone that was in a similar position to you was the obvious answer. But it isn’t, because you can never get away from it.”

Does Rory McIlroy Have a Prenup?

The pair signed their pre-nuptial agreement in March 2017, one month before their wedding, according to the divorce documents that Rory filed.

Further, the prenup remains enforceable and valid and both parties must abide by its provisions in the settlement.

Mcllory and Stoll started off as good for a long time after meeting in 2012. He engaged her in 2015 and later held a star-studded wedding at Ireland’s Ashford Castle two years later.
