Bruno’s brace not enough as United draw against Bournemouth

On home ground, the Cherries led twice with goals from Dominic Solanke and Justin Kluivert; however, Fernandes scored a brace, one of which came from the penalty spot, and the points were split.

As a consequence, Man United is now tied for seventh position in the Premier League standings with Newcastle United and 10 points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth. Bournemouth, on the other hand, is still in 12th place with 42 points from their 32 games played so far this season.

When Solanke soared above Willy Kambwala—who had just made his second consecutive Premier League start for the Red Devils—to meet a cross from the right, Bournemouth had a half-chance in the third minute. However, the Man United center-back was able to knock the ball behind for a corner, which was eventually cleared.

In the seventh minute, Ryan Christie broke into the Man United box and attempted a low pass to Solanke, giving the Cherries another chance, but Harry Maguire made a fantastic save to get in front of the forward.

Just before the hour mark, Kambwala performed a fantastic job of clearing ahead of Solanke, giving the striker a close-range opportunity to touch a low cross from Kerkez into the goal.

After Adam Smith handled inside the area to give Man United a penalty in the 64th minute, Fernandes scored his second goal of the match to tie the score at 2-2.

In the 67th minute, Bournemouth responded with a powerful effort as the Cherries attempted to take the lead for the third time in the game after Solanke had shot over the crossbar for the opposition.

With the home team ahead, Kambwala cleared a risky Kerkez cross behind for another corner in the 84th minute, and a minute later, Max Aarons missed the post with a shot.

After Kambwala’s tackle on Christie in the 95th minute gave the home team an incredible penalty kick, it was later overturned to a free kick after a VAR assessment determined that the contact occurred outside the area. In the 88th minute, Amad volleyed beyond of the Bournemouth post.
