His wrist injury keeps him off the courts of Melbourne Park but he is lucky to be part of the Eurosport crew covering the Australian Open.
Kyrgios stepped into the broadcasting arena for the first time in November 2023, contributing to Tennis Channel’s coverage during the ATP Finals in Turin.
During his inaugural broadcast, Kyrgios provided intriguing insights and showcased his expertise. The consensus was that he excelled in his role for Tennis Channel.

Now, Kyrgios is gearing up for another venture in tennis broadcasting. Eurosport, a seasoned broadcaster of the Australian Open for almost three decades, is excited to welcome Kyrgios to their team for the inaugural Grand Slam of the new season.
“We’re particularly excited to welcome Nick Kyrgios to our English language commentary team this year and know fans will benefit from his unique perspectives and closeness to the current crop of champions and competitors taking to the court this year,” Eurosport said in a statement.
Why Did Nick Kyrgios Withdraw From Australian Open Withdrawal?
Kyrgios suffered a wrist injury in June, which was after his knee surgery. This made it difficult for him to make a comeback for the grass-court season.
While announcing his absence from his favourite Grand Slam on home soil, he said that it is pointless playing with an injury that is yet to heal.
Kyrgios did not play much in 2023 following a knee surgery which he didn’t fully recover from when he was attacked by thugs and injured his wrist.
“Obviously had a really tough year with injury, had that knee surgery and came back a little bit too soon and set me back a little bit, then obviously had some wrist issues,” his statement read.
“So this is a very disappointing time for me, but I won’t be able to compete at the 2024 Australian Open. Obviously heartbreaking. I’ve had so many amazing memories there and I just want to really get back to playing at the top of my game and doing it right and I need a little more time,” he remarked.
Recalling the 2022 Wimbledon final with Novak Djokovic, Kyrgios said that he wants to play at his level best because he came close to winning his first Grand Slam.
“I was so close to winning a grand slam – I want to make sure that my body is going to have the time it needs to come back, so please bear with me,” added the Aussie tennis star.
He first hinted on Tennis Channel that he might not be ready for the Australian Open during the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy.

Confirming his decision on December 8, 2023, more than a month before the tournament’s commencement, Kyrgios revealed that he would be skipping the Australian Open for the second consecutive year.
Before he officially withdrew, Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley expressed a desire to involve the 2022 Wimbledon finalist in some capacity at Melbourne Park.
Now, with Eurosport securing Kyrgios for their team in the 2024 Australian Open, his presence at Melbourne Park is guaranteed.
After making a strong impression on Tennis Channel two months ago, Kyrgios is poised to deliver an excellent performance for Eurosport as well.
