While in his early 20s, Wade Barrett was a bare-knuckle boxer who fought in various locations in Europe. He even became a champion.
Barrett became a professional wrestler at the age of 21 and was trained by AI Snow and Jon Ritchie. In his televised match, he used the ring name Stu Standers and fought in a 30-man battle royal. The England international signed a contract with WWE in 2006 and was assigned to the promotion’s Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) to improve his fighting skills.
