Born to a father who is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, Dustin Rhodes was introduced to the sport at a very young age. He made his professional wrestling debut in September 1988, defeating Bob Cook in a match for Championship Wrestling from Florida (CWF).
In December 1988, Rhodes made his debut in World Championship Wrestling, teaming up with Kendall Windham to defeat The Cruel Connection and The Commandos. On 23 May 1989, Rhodes captured the NWA Florida Heavyweight Championship from Al Perez and held it for a month.
Rhodes made his debut in the WWF (later WWE) in the late 1990 and quickly became a fan favourite. On 19 January 1991, he teamed up with his father Dusty Rhodes at Royal Rumble in a losing effort against Ted DiBiase and Virgil.

After Vince McMahon renamed his company to WWE, Rhodes formed a partnership with Booker T that became a hit in the promotion. The tag team won the World Tag Team Championship at Armageddon.
Between 2002 and 2008, Rhodes wrestled on the independent circuit for various promotions such as TNA, AJPW and One Pro Wrestling. In 2016, he formed a tag team with R-Truth known as The Golden Truth.
In 2017, Rhodes appeared on the Royal Rumble where he competed against superstars such as Bray Wyatt and John Cena. Dolph Zigler eliminated him. Dustin Rhodes joined AEW in 2019 and has since been wrestling for the promotion.
