Early Life 

Aryna Sabalenka biography states that she was born on May 5, 1998, in Minsk, Belarus. She is the daughter of former hockey player Sergey. 

Aryna began playing tennis by chance. It all started when her father was driving her somewhere and saw tennis courts on the way. He took her to the courts, and Aryna instantly liked the environment. 

The future Australian Open 2023 champion had a late start on the ITF Junior Circuit as she did not compete in any main draw until 2013. She had a career-high ranking of 225 because of the lack of higher point levels from bigger tournaments. 

Alongside compatriot Vera Lapko, Aryna Sabalenka won her first ITF title in doubles. It was at the lowest-level Grade-5 Alatan Tour Cup in 2013.

She won her first singles title at the MTV Total Junior Cup in October 2014. That was also the same year that she reached her first singles final. 

When the National Tennis Academy opened in Minsk in 2014, Sabalenka began training there. In 2015, the Belarusian Tennis Federation persuaded her to play low-level professional tournaments, although she could compete at the junior level. 

The highest-level junior tournament Sabalenka competed in was the European Junior Championships in 2015. She lost in the second round to top seed Marketa Vondrousova.
