  • Ronaldo completed his medical for the Saudi Arabian Team
  • Cristiano said he was grateful for the opportunity

Ronaldo arrived in the Middle East on Monday and completed a medical before his official presentation the following day, making him the highest-paid footballer in the world.

A capacity crowd of 25,000 greeted the 37-year-old at a raucous Mrsool Park in Riyadh as excited fans enjoyed an impressive light show ahead of his unveiling.

Cristiano Ronaldo thanked Riyadh for their warm welcome ahead of his move to Al Nassr and his official unveiling by the club.

Ronaldo was a free agent after Manchester United terminated his contract following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan. In the interview, the 37-year-old slammed United and manager Erik ten Hag.

After the World Cup, Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al Nassr, and the club announced that he would be officially unveiled on Tuesday.

Ronaldo is proud of his decision.

Before entering the field in front of his new home crowd, Ronaldo said at a press conference:

“I feel so proud to make this big decision in my life.”

“In Europe, my work is done. I won everything, and now this is a new challenge.”
“I’m grateful Al Nassr has given me this opportunity, not only for the football but for the young and female generations.”

The Portuguese superstar also had a message for the Al Nassr fans and said he was eagerly waiting to see them at the Mrsool Park on Tuesday.

“Thank you, Riyadh, for the warm welcome! Look forward to seeing you at the stadium tonight,” said Ronaldo on Instagram.

“This is a challenge for me, but I feel delighted and proud.

“This is a good chance to grow many important points here with my knowledge and experience.”

After being introduced at Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, the Portuguese superstar has responded to critics. Ronaldo agreed to a lucrative contract with the team, making him the highest-paid athlete in the game’s history.

Ronaldo’s decision to leave Manchester United and move to Saudi Arabia has drawn criticism, but he sent his critics a clear message in response.

“Many people speak and give their opinions, but they know nothing about football,” he told reporters.

“As you know, football is different now, probably the last 10-15 years; all the teams are more prepared, more ready,” he said. “So for me, coming to [Saudi Arabia] is not the end of my career; that’s what I want to change, so I don’t care what people say.”

Al Nassr coach Rudi Garcia praised Ronaldo’s signing and stated that the move would help to develop the sport in Saudi Arabia.

Garcia stated they were pleased with his arrival and that his goal was to work to adapt to the team, enjoy playing for Al Nassr, and entertain the fans.

“The signing of a player of Cristiano Ronaldo’s size is extraordinary, contributing to the development of Saudi football.”
