Estadio do Dragao Stadium in Porto remains a favourite battleground for Mason Mount. If dreams were horses, his would be playing the Qatar World Cup finals.
Chelsea bagged their second Champions League in Porto, May 29, 2021. Mount provided the legendary assist for Kai Havertz’s game-winning goal. This came 18 months before the FIFA World Cup which is a dream he harbours.
The Chelsea player is still waiting to see if he will be a part of Gareth Southgate’s squad. He is giving it his all and has the potential to become one of the finest in the world. In all competitions, Mount recorded a career-high 29 goals and assists, including 11 and 10 in the Premier League.

He signed with the club as a member of the Under-9 squad, Mount started his training with the club at the age of six. Hampshire in the city of Portsmouth is a town he has fond memories of having grown up here.
His father, Tony, played in the lower divisions of the game and eventually coached for local teams like Havant Town. He influenced his son to play youth football for Boarhunt Rovers and United Services Portsmouth.
At the age of four, he spent one day a week at each of the Portsmouth and Chelsea academies. He then joined Chelsea in 2005 and looked up to players like Frank Lampard, Luka Modric, and Andrés Iniesta. They were his favourite players.
The 23-year-old started his professional career with Chelsea before going on loan to Vitesse and Derby County in quick succession between 2017 and 2019. In the years that followed, he became a crucial cog for Chelsea, helping the club to the 2021 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup titles.
Mount assisted the England U-19 squad to the 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship title. At the age of 20, he debuted for England’s senior national squad in 2019, and he was there for UEFA Euro 2020.

The origin of the name “Money Mase” is unclear. However, there are a number of factors that hint at this nickname. For starters, Mount consistently hits his marks on the pitch and it’s impressive.
In most cases, his playing style causes bewilderment which is a probable reason for coining ‘mase’. In addition, he is crucial to strategy and Chelsea often bets on him to score or provide an assist.
