The top tennis earners 2022 are impressively getting richer and the list has a dose of fresh blood.

These tennis players have a glowing net worth courtesy of cash prizes, salaries and endorsements. What’s great about off-court earnings is that hard work and determination never go unrewarded.

Professional tennis is a fiercely competitive sport that requires a lot of training. The good news is that on the ATP and WTA tours, players get good money.

In major slams, each finalist in every level gets a cash prize. Sponsors also come in handy, especially for the crème de la crème of the sport. So, the off-court earnings balance out dwindling on-court earnings.

The latter refers to monies paid for participating or winning in any ATP Tour and WTA event. So let’s delve into the top tennis earners 2022 who cumulatively raked in over $200 million.

ROGER FEDERER $90 MILLION

The 20-time Grand Slam champion Federer last played in early 2021 and took time off due to a recurring knee injury. However, even with his injuries, Federer remains the top pitchman in sports.

He made a clean $90 million even after over a year off the court from sponsors like Uniqlo, Credit Suisse, and Rolex. He has substantial holdings in On, a Swiss running shoe company that went public in September 2021.

Injuries to her back, abdomen, and Achilles have caused Osaka to fall to world No.46. She may not have won any slam or event in 2022 but she’s a marketing machine.

Osaka has endorsement deals with nearly 20 different companies. Together with her longtime agent, Stuart Duguid, they started their own sports agency, Evolve, in May 2022.

They signed Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios as a client. Further, she partnered with LeBron James’ SpringHill Company to launch Hana Kuma Media Company in June 2022.

Her Kinl skincare line, which debuted a few years ago has her products on the shelves of Walmart. The company has signed sponsorship deals with five collegiate athletes.

She may have retired from but Serena Williams is definitely among tennis top tennis earners 2022.

In a heartfelt article announcing her retirement, Williams admitted that she did not want to leave the sport. Not before earning her 24th Grand Slam tittle and shattering Margaret Court’s record.

However, the time came after the third-round US Open 2022 defeat. She now has plenty of time to keep her busy at Serena Ventures, which has invested in over 60 firms.

The flagship company launched an initial fund of $111 million in 2022. Williams still has endorsements with about a dozen firms, including Nike, Gucci, and Michelob Ultra.

Some of them will continue with their obligations long after her retirement.

RAFAEL NADAL $31.4 MILLION

After taking time off in 2021 to deal with Müller-Weiss disease, an extremely rare foot condition, Nadal has god returns in 2022.

He counts Nike, KIA, and Richard Mille among his loyal sponsors. His Australian Open and French Open victories netted $4.4 million in prize money. Adding the Mexican Open, his cash prize comes to $6.4 million exclusive of bonuses from sponsors.

The Spaniard could be far ahead were it not for an abdominal tear that forced him to withdraw from the Wimbledon semifinals.

Besids, he is getting good returns not just from sponsors but his investments too. One of such is Tatel, a restaurant he recently invested in, in Beverly Hills.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC $27.1 MILLION

Despite missing the U.S. Open, Djokovic has had a phenomenal season all factors considered. He won Wimbledon in his first major Grand Slam of the year.

He missed the Australian Open because he refused the Covid-19 vaccine. Nonetheless, Djokovic still has sponsors including Asics, Head, Hublot, Lacoste, NetJets, and Raiffeisen Bank.

EMMA RADUCANU $21.1 MILLION

The British teen was world No. 150th in the world in 2021 and she was relatively unknown. However, she made a show by winning the US Open 2021 by edging out big shots.

After winning the Open at age 18, she received numerous endorsements. These companies include Nike, British Airways, Dior, Evian, HSBC, Porsche, Tiffany & Co., and Vodafone.

Although she hasn’t lived up to the hype; failing to win any other tournament, her sponsors are right by her side. Ranking among the top tennis earners 2022 is a huge achievement.

DANIIL MEDVEDEV $19.3 MILLION

Medvedev, is the 2021 US Open champion who defeated Novak Djokovic to win his first major title. Since then he has spent much of the year battling the Serbian for the No. 1 ranking.

As a result of the conflict in Ukraine, Wimbledon banned Medvedev and other Russian players from competing. However, the ATP and WTA Tours later decided to deduct ranking points from the tournament, which allowed Medvedev to maintain his No. 1 ranking and push Djokovic to No. 6.

Medvedev has kept all of his partners, including Lacoste and two acquisitions from last fall. They include a gaming gear company HyperX and Chinese distillery Guojiao 1573.

Despite the marketing tightrope that all Russian players are walking to Vladimir Putin’s invasion in Ukraine, Medvedev is graciously good financially.

Medvedev has the upper hand because he lives in Monaco and his sole Russian backer, Tinkoff Bank, is not subject to Western sanctions.
