Chelsea agree a deal for teenager Chukwuemeka with Aston Villa
- Chelsea has had a busy week in the transfer market and it is only getting busier with this new signing
- The Blues have agreed on a deal with Aston Villa for teenager Carney Chukwuemeka
- The Club is also interested in getting on board Wolves winger Adama Traore this summer
Chelsea have agreed a deal reportedly in the region of £15 million with Aston Villa for England Under-19s midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
Villa have allowed the 18-year-old to travel to London in order to discuss personal terms before undergoing a medical.
He featured 12 times for Villa in the Premier League last season, with 10 of those appearances coming off the bench.
Austrian-born Chukwuemeka played a key role for England as they won the 2022 European Under-19 Championship at the start of last month, scoring three times in five games, including an extra-time goal in the 3-1 final win over Israel.
Chukwuemeka now makes the move to Stamford Bridge, where he will look to earn minutes in a midfield that already features the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and World Cup winner N’Golo Kante.
Chelsea are also close to the signing of Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gaga Slonina – who will stay with the club on loan till January 2023.
Fire coach Ezra Hendrickson said at the weekend there was “something very close to happening”, although the 18-year-old keeper is set to return to MLS on loan until January.
Brighton and Hove Albion left-back Marc Cucurella – a prominent target for Manchester City – is also reportedly in line for a move to Thomas Tuchel’s side.
In other news still revolving around Stamford Bridge, Adama Traore is hoping to secure a move away from Wolves before the end of the summer transfer window, 90min reports.
The Spain international has a year left to run on his contract at Molineux and spent the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona, but they declined the chance to make the move permanent.
90min reported that two clubs keeping an eye on Traore are London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
Spurs came close to bringing in Traore back in January before he opted to return to Camp Nou instead, while they also weighed up a move last summer when his former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo was at the club.
The north London side remain in the market for another player capable of operating at right wing-back, with Roma’s versatile midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo also being looked at as a potential makeshift option there.
Chelsea on their side are also searching for cover at wing-back for Reece James and Traore is on their list of options. Inter’s Denzel Dumfries and Southampton’s Kyle-Walker Peters are also being eyed.
