  • To participate in the season’s final major competition, non-citizens are required by the US to have proof of complete covid vaccination
  •  Novak Djokovic refused to take the vaccine, and as a result, he will not be permitted to play
  • As a result of his anti-vaccination stance, the Tennis Star was disqualified from participation in the Australian Open earlier this year
  • The 35-year-old has won the US Open title three times in the past

Another blow was dealt to Novak Djokovic‘s aspirations of competing in the US Open when the tournament announced that it would adhere to the guidelines the United States government set regarding the Covid-19 vaccination.

The Serbian Tennis player who has won 21 major singles titles is still trying to beat Rafa Nadal’s record of 22.

Since Djokovic has made it apparent that he would not take the vaccine, it means that he will not be permitted entry into the United States because the United States requires all non-citizens to be wholly vaccinated against coronavirus before they can enter the country.

The tennis player who recently won Wimbledon was disqualified from the Australian Open for his refusal to get vaccinated, which also saw his deportation from the country.

Djokovic stated that after his victory in London, he was hoping for good news from the United States. This is because of his attitude against vaccinations.

On Wednesday, The 35-year-old player who has won the tournament three times was included on the entrance list for the year’s last grand slam competition.

However, this is merely a formality and does not indicate that he will be permitted to participate in the tournament.

The players on this list are the ones who have the highest overall rankings in the world.

At this moment, Djokovic holds the sixth spot in the rankings. It will only take one more major victory to tie Rafael Nadal, another great, for the most significant titles with 22.

“The United States Open does not have a vaccination mandate in place for players. Still, the tournament will respect the position taken by the United States government on travel into the country for non-US citizens who have not been vaccinated” read a statement issued by the United States Open,

Although it is pretty doubtful that Djokovic will be in New York, another past champion will be there after Serena Williams’ name was added to the entrance list for the tournament.

Williams, a six-time champion of the US Open, indicated that she intended to compete in her home grand slam by signing up to play the majority of the US hard-court swing.

This included events in Toronto and Cincinnati. Williams has won the US Open on hard courts six times.

The US Open is scheduled to start on the 29th 0f August to the 11th of September.
