Wasswa BBosa CECAFA
The UPL resumes with a battle for top four and golden boot

The Golden boot battle: Golola, who missed the 1-0 defeat to Vipers for “personal reasons, is up for the relegation dogfight with Police, who will be without coach Abdallah Mubiru.

It is not just the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title race that is taking a shape. The battle for the top marksman accolade is hotting up too, with two Congolese imports armed for the kill.

Second-placed Vipers head to Kavumba Recreation Grounds this afternoon to face Soltilo Bright Stars seeking to cut the four-point deficit on leaders KCCA.

Lanky forward Ceasar Manzoki, who netted the solitary goal in their last win over Tooro United to make it six goals so far, is pursuing more than just victory.

The golden boot battle “My first objective is to help the team win the title. But it is my personal goal to perform better than last season and compete for the golden boot,” he told scribes.

Match Preview: Wakiso Giants vs Arua Hill· Tuesday, December 22, 2021, · Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, Wakissha 3 pm

There will be a renewal of acquaintances when we host Arua Hill on Tuesday at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium.

The visitors have a lot of familiar faces in their squad who will face us for the first time since leaving the club in the primary transfer window.

Faizul Ibrahim, Gadafi Wahab, and Georgia Atendele return to Wakissha in different colors and so is coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi who had a short stint with the Purple Sharks.

The trio along with goalkeeper Richard Anyama will most likely be given a warm reception by the fans who appreciated their time at the club.

Team News:

· Edward Satulo sits out the last of his three-match ban

· George Kaddu is also one game away from a two months ban that has seen him miss nine games so far.

· Ivan Bogere is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards

· Rahmat Ssenfuka is back after missing the goalless draw at Mbarara through an accumulation of cards.

· Pius Kaggwa and Moses Aliro are doubtful about the encounter.

Key Stats:

This will be the first-ever meeting against Arua Hill who is playing in the division for the first time.

Arua Hill is 6th on the table with 18 points, two slots, and points below us.

Tooro faced with Golola puzzle

Tied on six goals with URA’s Cromwell Rwothomio and KCCA’s Davis Kasirye, Manzoki is one better than striking partner Yunus Sentamu, who he lauds for accelerating his work.

“It is always good to play with the best and Yunus is one of them. We enjoy playing together,” the forward said.

The golden boot battle, The top scorer’s race inevitably draws in Express’ Eric Kambale, who finished just a goal shy of Sentamu’s 16 last campaign.

“To compete with Eric makes me happy because he’s a longtime brother. To see him evolve and perform makes me proud. He has been attentive to all the advice given to him,” Manzoni said.

Meanwhile, the curious case of coach Edward Golola could be answered as the tactician says he will be back in the Tooro United dugout.

Golola, who missed the 1-0 defeat to Vipers for “personal reasons, is up for the relegation dogfight with Police, who will be without coach Abdallah Mubiru.

Tomorrow, table leaders commonly referred to as the Kasasiro boys will welcome reigning champions Express FC at the MTN Phillip Omondi stadium- Lugogo.

KCCA maintains the good run of games this season, fresh from defeating struggling Police FC 3-1 and sharing the spoils with SC Villa away from home in a 1-1 statement in the traditional derby.

They currently sit top of the table with 27 points from 11 matches while Express lies fifth with 19 points with both sides having played 11 games so far.

Express drew away from home with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA)

having grabbed all three vital points against Gadaffi at home in Wankulukuku stadium.

Express gaffer Wasswa Bbosa has always maintained that his side remains in contention for the title despite their slow start to the season.

With eight points adrift of both sides, Express must overcome KCCA to deduce the gap if they are to keep their title hopes alive.

However, this will be an uphill task ahead of tomorrow’s encounter with KCCA tactician Morley Byekwaso, the man to beat this season.
