World Tennis icon Serena Williams collaborated with revered actor Michael B. Jordan and donated $1m to Legacy Classic HBCU Startup Pitch Competition winner.

This was during the debut Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic at the Prudential Center.

Speaking on TNT broadcast, Serena said that it is all about giving everyone equal opportunities their skin colour notwithstanding. She remarked that there are companies that give opportunities selectively thereby creating an imbalance in the market.

“We see a lot of venture companies investing in a lot of people, but it’s really just about following people of color and women and giving them the same opportunities,” stated Serena.

In addition, her elder sister Isha Price and her niece graduated from Howard University.

This solidified Serena’s affinity for historically Black institutions of higher learning for her. For the 23-time Grand Slam champion, it’s all about shining a light and providing equal opportunity to individuals of colour and women.

In a recent update during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Show, she said that her recovery is much better. She is hoping to make a grand return at the Australian open next year.

The 40-year-old American picked up a torn hamstring after a first-round match at Wimbledon in August. She was playing on a grass court which she loves but a slip left her with a hamstring injury.

She resigned to fate and pulled out of the U.S Open at Flushing Meadows in New York. The mother of one also missed out of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Serena’s injury ended her 2021 season prematurely and this broke her heart.
