Career
Bernd Leno began his football journey at the youth team of local club SV Germania Bietigheim. He then went through VfB Stuttgart’s youth set-up for six years before making his senior debut.
In May 2011, Leno signed a new deal with VfB Stuttgart that keeps him at the club until 2014. At this time, he was already a regular in the VfB Stuttgart II reserve team.
On 10 August 2011, Bayer Leverkusen signed Leno on loan from VfB Stuttgart. Four days later, he made his Bundesliga debut against Werder Bremen. In his first three Bundesliga matches, he kept a clean sheet, becoming the third goalkeeper after Dirk Krussenberg and Heribert Macherey to do so.
