Embolo was born in Yaoundé, Cameroon on February 14 1997 to his parents Moise Kegni and Germaine Embolo. Part of his childhood was in Cameroon but around the age of six years, the parents separated and Embolo’s mother moved to France with him.

While in France, the mother found a suitor from Switzerland and they had to move to his home country. This is where Embolo’s career began since he underwent junior training and then to the senior team.

The player is married to a wonderful lady known as Naomi, a Swiss model and actress, and they are blessed with a baby girl- Naliya. He is a Christian believer by religion.

Career

Though he was very young, this forward knew nothing else apart from streetball. His love for the sport became a reality when he moved to Switzerland with his mother.

In Switzerland, his first youth club was FC Nord stern Basel where he spent two seasons, and on failing his trial, he joined the old boys for two years and finally joined the FCB youth system In their U-13 team, finished his youth training from Basel’s academy.

He joined FC Basel and made his senior debut for the club performing of the season. Throughout the season, his performance began attracting interest from multiple clubs across Europe being dubbed as one of Europe’s hottest prospects in that time.

Embolo scored his first goal for the club in a match against Aarau and even won the league championship, reaching the final though he sat on the bench as they were beaten by Zurich after extra time.

He advanced and became a regular player and a regular goal scorer scoring his first goal at the UEFA champions league in a home group win against Ludogorets Razgrad.

Schalke won the race to sign Breel on a five-year deal for a reported fee of $21.9 million plus add-ons.

He made his debut but his first season at the club was marred by an injury that ruled him out of the pitch for a year. The club didn’t get to experience what the player would offer. His time in Gelsenkirchen came to an end when he signed for Borussia Monchengladbach.

Borussia signed the player on a four-year contract making his debut in the first round of the DFB-Pokal when he came in halftime as a substitute in a win at SV Sandhausen.

Monaco signed Breel mid-last year on a four-year deal and they paid Borussia a fee of $13 million making his debut in a champions league third qualifying round first leg at home to PSV Eindhoven as a substitute.

He has represented Switzerland’s U16, U20 and U21 teams, and has been with the national time since 2015 and scored his first international goal in a win against the Ukraine U16. He was also eligible to play for Cameroon since he was born there however, he pledged his allegiance to Switzerland.
