Early Life 

Victor Osimhen biography states that he was born December 29, 1998, in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the lastborn in a family of six children born to Elder Patrick Osimhen and his late wife.

Like many footballers in Southern Nigeria, Osimhen comes from a poor background. His mother used to sell sachet water to supplement her paltry income. Young Osimhen used to hawk sachet water and other household commodities on the streets in order to help his family.

He attended Olusosun Primary School, which served as the football meeting point for young boys in the community. While playing there, scouts from Ultimate Strikers Academy in Lagos noticed his talent and invited him for trials.

Osimhen passed the trials and became part of the academy. His performance with the academy saw him getting a call to play for the Nigeria national U-17 football team. The teenager was pivotal to Nigeria’s U-17 success at the FIFA U-17 Tournament in Chile. He scored ten goals, winning the Golden Boot of the tournament.

Due to his performance, top clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing him. Surprisingly, Osimhen rejected all the big teams and decided to sign a pre-contract with VfL Wolfsburg.

Career 

On January 5, 2017, Victor Osimhen officially signed a contract with Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. He had to wait until May to make his debut because he arrived at the club with an injury.

VfL Wolfsburg loaned Osimhen to Belgian club Charleroi in August 2018. He was to spend the whole 2018-19 season with Charleroi. The Nigerian had a successful spell with the club, scoring 20 goals in 36 matches. His impressive performance attracted the attention of Lille, who signed him in July 2019.

Victor Osimhen continued with his impressive performance in France, finishing the season as Lille’s top goalscorer with 18 goals in all competitions.

In July 2020, Napoli made Victor Osimhen the most expensive African transfer in history when they signed him for 70 million euros. He scored his 100th career goal for the Naples on February 17, 2020, in the 2-0 win over Sassuolo.
