Female boxing made considerable strides in 2022, and it would be interesting to watch several boxers continue pushing their names and the sport in 2023.

There were exciting fights last year, with the likes of Amanda Serrano and Claressa Shields winning titles in their respective divisions.

But in order for there to be real growth in women’s boxing, there needs to be more than just the big names connecting the fans.

Here, we will discuss seven female boxers to watch in 2023. It is good to note that these are not prospects but boxers who have already achieved success.

According to ESPN, these are boxers who could end up pushing for a spot on the pound-for-pound list by the end of 2023.

1. Kim Clavel – Record: 16-0, 3 KOs

Kim Clavel is the current WBC junior flyweight world champion. With a pro boxing record of 16-0, Kim is supposed to be up there with the likes of Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields.

However, she has had a bit of bad luck in lead-up fights. She suffered an injury before her match on December 2021, COVID postponed her early 2022 bout and her fight with Jessica Nery, scheduled to take place in December, was postponed to January 13.

If Kim Clavel’s health cooperates, she will be one of the female boxers to watch in 2023. If Kim wins her fight against Jessica Nery, she will unify two 108-pound titles.

The 32-year-old could fight two more times before the end of 2023.

2. Yokasta Valle – Record: 27-2, 9 KOs

Yokasta Valle is a two-belt, two-division champion. The Nicaraguan boxer, who lives in Costa Rica, holds the WBO and IBF titles in the junior flyweight and strawweight categories.

Yokasta has been strong in both weight classes and has only lost twice since turning pro. She first lost to Naoko Fujioka in 2017 before suffering defeat at the hands of Tina Rupprecht the following year.

The 30-year-old fought four times last year and is still willing to continue with her career in 2023.

3. Gabriela Fundora – Record: 9-0, 4 KOs

Gabriela Fundora is a rising star and, without a doubt, one of the female boxers to watch in 2023. She has won all her nine bouts since turning professional barely 20 months ago.

The 20-year-old is a tough opponent for boxers in her division, flyweight, due to her punching power combined with her 5 ft 9 in height.

Well, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Gabriele Fundora competing for a world title before the end of 2023.

4. Ebanie Bridges – Record: 9-1, 4 KOs

Ebanie Bridges got the attention of many boxing fans last year when she defeated Maria Cecilia Roman to win the IBF bantamweight title.

The 36-year-old then defended her title in a fashionable manner in a bout against Shannon O’Connell. She knocked out Shannon in the eighth round.

Ebanie Bridges is one of the female boxers to watch out for in 2023, as she could rise to be among the top ten pound-for-pound boxers.

5. Ramla Ali – Record: 7-0, 2 KOs

In 2022, Ramla Ali became one of the first female boxers to fight professionally in Saudi Arabia. She showed her skills in the fight, knocking out her opponent in the first round.

Ramla Ali, who was born in Somalia and raised in London, will fight Avril Mathie at the Hulu Theater in Maddison Square Garden

If Ali wins the fight, she will increase her chances of competing for a world title before the end of 2023. Ali competes in the junior featherweight division.

6. Ellie Scotney – Record: 6-0, 0 KOs

Ellie Scotney competes in the featherweight division, where she is currently undefeated in 6 fights.

She is part of a division with many young talents, including IBF champion Cherneka Johnson and WBC champion Yamileth Mercado.
