Career 

Ivan Perisic biography is mainly about his football journey, which he began in the youth ranks of Hajduk Split.

Young Perisic impressed at Split and began attracting interest from clubs like PSV, Anderlecht, Hamburger SV and Hertha BSC.

Hajduk Split offered Ivan Perisic a contract of 100,000 euros, which was only 20,000 euros less than what the team’s best player earned.

At the same time, French club Sochaux was willing to pay 360,000 euros to sign him. Sochaux head coach Alain Perin came personally to Split with a private jet to convince Perisic to join his side.

Ivan Perisic’s family made the decision for him to join Sochaux in 2006. He was part of the Sochaux youth team that won the Coupe Gambardella the following year.

The winger never made any appearance for Sochaux’s first team, but he played for the B team.

Club Brugge 

Ivan Perisic opted to leave Sochaux and join Club Brugge in the summer of 2009. According to reports, the Belgian team paid 250,000 for Perisic, who signed a three-year contract.

The youngster scored his first Club Brugge goal on his debut against Genk. In his first season, Perisic scored nine goals in 33 league appearances and four goals in nine Europa League appearances.

Perisic continued with his impressive for the following season as he emerged as the Belgian Jupiler Pro League top scorer with 22 goals. He was named Player of the Year in Belgium.

Borussia Dortmund 

Football critics in Belgium predicted a bright future for Ivan Perisic, who joined Borussia Dortmund in May 2009.

The Croatian footballer was a key player in Borussia Dortmund’s squad in his first two seasons. He helped the team win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal before he began struggling for play time.

During an interview with Nova TV, Perisic accused Jurgen Klopp of favouring other players at Dortmund, a comment that didn’t go well with the manager.

As a result, he was released in January 2013 to VfL Wolfsburg for eight million euros.

The Croatian winger got the playing time he deserved at VfL Wolfsburg. He helped the team win the DFB-Pokal and the DFL Supercup in 2015.

Inter Milan 

Perisic’s football journey continued at Inter Milan as he joined the Italian side before the start of the 2016-16 season.

He was one of the best players in Inter Milan until he began to struggle under Antonio Conte. He went on loan to Bayern Munich for the 2019-20 season and was part of the team that won the UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

Ivan Perisic returned to Inter Milan at the end of his loan period in the Bundesliga. He won his first trophy with the Nerazzurri, Serie A, at the end of the 2020-21 season. He later won the Copa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana.

Tottenham Hotspur 

Ivan Perisic joined Tottenham Hotspur last summer as a free agent. He is the fifth Croatian footballer to play for the Premier League side.
