  • FC Barcelona suffered a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich at Camp Nou in their Group C fixture last night.
  • The Catalans played the match already knowing that they had no hopes of proceeding to the UEFA Champions League knockout stages.

The results of the Barcelona vs Bayern Munich fixture continue to go in the way of the German side, even at Camp Nou.

Bayern Munich recorded their sixth win in a row against FC Barcelona, a run which goes back to 2015 and includes an 8-2 humiliation.

Xavi’s side will not proceed to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 after the results of Group C fixtures played last night.

The Catalans suffered a 3-0 thumping at Camp Nou on Wednesday night. Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the visitors ten minutes into the game.

Choupo-Moting doubled the Bavarians’ lead in the 31st minute before Benjamin Pavard sealed the victory in added time.

Serge Gnabry played a crucial role in Bayern Munich’s victory as he provided the assists to all three goals. Jamal Musiala proved once again that he is among the best young players in the world by giving an extra dimension in the final third of the pitch.

The 19-year-old played deep and also dropped back to ensure his side controlled the midfield during the Barcelona vs Bayern Munich match.

FC Barcelona’s performance was wanting last night as they failed to muster a single shot on target. Not even the Camp Nou crowd that was on their side could motivate them to score at least one goal.

FC Barcelona thought they had a penalty before the half-time break after Robert Lewandowski went down. However, Anthony Taylor consulted VAR and made a decision that the Poland international had dived.

Bayern Munich’s victory over wounded FC Barcelona means they have extended their unbeaten run in the UEFA Champions League group stages to 33.

Barcelona Knocked Out Of Champions League Before Loss To Bayern

FC Barcelona’s poor performance last night could be because they already knew they had no chance of proceeding to the round of 16.

The Catalans had already been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League after Inter Milan thrashed Viktoria Plzen 4-0 in an early Group C fixture.

FC Barcelona were majorly depending on Viktoria Plzen to defeat Inter Milan, something almost impossible considering Plzen’s performance in the competition this season.

Henrik Mkhitaryan, Edin Dzeko (two) and Romelu Lukaku all scored during the big win at San Siro.

What’s Next For FC Barcelona?

FC Barcelona will complete their Group C Fixtures as they travel to Czech Republic to face Viktoria Plzen next Tuesday. Afterwards, their focus would be to win the UEFA Europa League and La Liga.

However, it will not be easy to win any of the trophies this season, considering Real Madrid’s form in La Liga and the presence of other top teams in the Europa League.

Heavyweights Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are among the big names that will challenge Barca for the Europa League title.
