- Kenya Police lost their first game of the season 1-0 to KCB
- Police coach Omollo says they played well and should improve in scoring
- KCB were delighted with the three points
Kenya Police FC head coach Sammy Omollo says he remains confident his side are still title contenders despite losing their opening game of the season 1-0 to KCB last weekend. The law enforcers have been touted as possible title contenders, but they struggled to impress in their first game of the campaign.
However, Omollo says they lost the game by fine margins and says they will be a better outfit in their next match.
“We struggled to dictate the midfield because two players that were to be there missed the game. Duke (Abuya) went to Tanzania in the last minute and Patillah (Omotto) missed with injury. These are players who we had built the team around and missing them was a blow,” said the coach.
He added; “Despite the loss, I was impressed with how we performed. The players really worked hard and we only now need to do better to score the chances we get.”
On the other end, KCB’s assistant coach Geoffrey Oduor was delighted with how his team performed.
“We really did well and I am proud of the performance. There are only a few areas we need to do better but overall, I am happy with how we played. It is always great to start the season with victory,” the coach said.
