- Antony is one of Manchester United’s top targets, with Erik ten Hag a keen admirer of the player.
- Ajax wants a big fee for the gifted winger, despite an injury-plagued end to the 2021/22 season
Ajax rejected Manchester United’s offer for Brazilian International Antony who is also interested to reunite with his former boss Antony at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian star is a top priority of Erik Ten Hag having worked with him at Ajax for two seasons. Manchester United is on their quest to have the right players and are determined to sign the winger who possesses a lot of quality.
United has been interested in Antony for much of the summer, and even launched an offer for him as early as July, believed to be around €60 million.
Despite the injuries that hampered his performances in the late last season, Ajax are adamant to sell and want to keep the player.
win for Ajax
No matter what happens in the events surrounding this deal Ajax will be the winner whether they lose Antony or they afford to keep him.
The Netherland-based club has been home to wonderful talents, for years they have mastered te trick of bringing up players and selling them for huge fees.
They are also excellent negotiators when it comes to bargaining power, this was the case of Lisandro Martinez and could also happen with the Brazilian in the late days of the window.

Ajax has lost at least five players who guided them to glory last season and their case of not wanting to sell is understandable.
We await to see what will most likely happen, Ajax might want to keep hold of the player or gat swayed by money which Man United is willing to splash in the coming days and let go of the 22-year-old.
It’s unlikely that there’s a drop off in Antony’s performances for Ajax too, or a lack of motivation, as there’s a World Cup around the corner and he’s active in the Brazil squad, as well as the fact that there are players to replace him for Ajax.
Football analysts and pundits have painted a picture that Man United will be robbed if they splash €100 million for Antony, not to say he can’t be valued at that fee but his output and injury record is something to worry United before splashing that amount of money.
Of course, he is of importance to Ajax, but €100 million would be an indication of Manchester United’s increasing desire to get him in the final days of the window, with Ajax taking advantage of that.

The English Premier League club is in panic buying and it would not be a surprise if they pour money to get the Erik Ten Hag target this summer.
If they do so here again, it could well be another piece of trouble: a smarter call would be to get an alternative, perhaps wait for another summer, and line up a deal in place for next season.
