- Kakamega Homeboyz are now a point above Tusker
- They still have one match more to play
- KCB won their first game in 13 outings
Kakamega Homeboyz dropped two vital points in their fight for the FKF Premier League title after playing to a 1-1 draw with Gor Mahia at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.
The point took Homeboyz to 57 points, one ahead of Tusker FC with both remaining with three rounds of matches. However, after Sunday’s round of games, Homeboyz will still have one match more to play than Tusker.
“It was a tough match but we will keep on fighting to see what comes at the end of the season. It is still in our hands and we will give a good account in the three matches remaining,” said Homeboyz coach Bernard Mwalala.
After a dull opening half, the game came into life in the second period and just 10 minutes in, Gor broke the deadlock. Samuel Onyango easily tapped the ball into an empty net after a low cross from Benson Omala.
Immediately after the goal, Homeboyz coach Mwalala made changes, bringing in Michael Karamor and Gaetan Masha for Stephen Opoku and Stephen Wakanya.
The changes proved a masterstroke as Karamor scored the equalizer with 16 minutes left.
Meanwhile, AFC Leopards survived a fightback from FC Talanta to win 3-2 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Leopards had raced to a 2-0 lead, but Talanta foyght back to level, before Ingwe scored a late winner.

Victor Omune had given Ingwe the lead after just seven minutes off a penalty after he had been hacked inside the box by Shela Mandela. Leopards continued with their attacking play and on the half hour mark scored their second when Tedian Esilaba headed home from a Brian Wanyama freekick.
Leopards had more chances with Omune and Eugene Mukangula missing sitters.
In the second half, they continued dominating and had more chances but couldn’t find the back of the net. With 10 minutes to go, Talanta were handed a way back when Brian Yakhama scored from the penalty spot before Kevintom Machika levelled the scores a few minutes later.
However, Leopards fought to avoid the embarrassment of wastefulness infront of goal when Omune scored a cracker to win the game in added time.
Meanwhile, KCB bounced back to winning ways with a 3-2 win over Nairobi City Stars to revive their hopes of a top five finish. Derrick Otanga scored a hattrick while a penalty from Ezekiel Odera and Rodgers Okumu’s late goal weren’t enough for City Stars.
In other matches, Elvis Rupia scored the lone goal as Kenya Police beat Bidco United 1-0 while Posta Rangers and Sofapaka played to a 1-1 draw in Thika.
