Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Nairobi City Stars has appointed Nicholas Muyoti as the club’s new head coach, taking over from Bosnian Sanjin Alagic who left the club after the expiry of his contract mid this year.
Muyoti, a former Kenyan international arrives at City Stars after a two-year stint with Kakamega Homeboyz and has penned a three-year contract with the club.
“I would like to thank the chair Jonathan for the opportunity and for the confidence he has shown in me to coach Nairobi City Stars. When I left my last workstation, I was to seek an opportunity outside the country but when the possibility to join City Stars came by I had to change my plans,” Muyoti said as he was unveiled at the club.
He adds; “That possibility turned to reality, and it excites me to be part of Simba wa Nairobi, a club full of stability and ambitions. I believe that together, we will achieve the set targets.”
The former Kenyan international who has had coaching stints with Nzoia Sugar, AFC Leopards and Thika United believes he is well poised to perform well with City Stars, just as he did with Homeboyz for the past two season.
He will be assisted by John Amboko who handled the club from mid-July 2021 after the exit of Alagic.

“Muyoti is a skill and performance-based coach known for his leadership and good relationship with players from the young to the senior ones. He became the best fit for Simba wa Nairobi as the club has a balanced squad full of youth and experienced players,” said City Stars owner and chair Jonathan Jackson.
Club CEO Patrick Korir added; “We were made aware of his availability at a time when we were looing through a pile of applications from both local and foreign coaches. His recent track record where he made Homeboyz a formidable side in the last three seasons with a top-seven finish in all instances, as well as his great personality, became our attraction point.”
Muyoti will have the task of ensuring City Stars scale up in the league standings after a seventh place finish in their first season returning to top flight football. The youthful tactician is confident that he has what it takes to ensure City Stars continue to shine.
His first match in charge will be against Sofapaka when the new season begins this coming weekend.
Sofapaka new signing Hansel Ochieng
Meanwhile, Sofapaka has confirmed the acquisition of two new signings ahead of the new season with winger Hansel Ochieng arriving from AFC Leopards and Kelvin Oduor who has penned a three-year contract from Nairobi Stima.
Batoto ba Mungu had a difficult campaign last season, finishing 12th last season despite several international arrivals at the start of the campaign with all of them leaving one by one.
Ochieng arrives at the club after a tough but successful season with Leopards. The club is currently struggling to keep hold of their best players due to poor financial status. Ochieng is just one of many who will leave the club.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan has already left and joined Ugandan giants KCCA while Ezekiel Owade is also set to leave to join Bidco United. Striker Elvis Rupia has already left the club for Saudi Arabian second tier side Bisha FC while utility Clyde Senaji has returned to Tusker FC.
Winger Harrison Mwendwa left for Zambia.
