Wayne Gretzky was known by his full names Wayne Douglas Gretzky is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player.

He was born on 26th January 1961, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. His parents are Walter Gretzky and Phyllis Hockin. He also has four siblings named; Kim, Brent, Keith and Glen Gretzky.

Gretzky has played for 20 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for four teams from the year 1979 to 1999.

Many sportswriters, players, the NHL itself and The Hockey News have named Wayne the greatest hockey player ever. He is nicknamed “the Great One”. This is based on extensive surveys of hockey writers, ex-players, general managers and coaches.

The hockey icon is the leading goal scorer, assist producer and point scorer in the history of the NHL. He also garnered more assists in his career than any other player.

Gretzky is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season. He accomplished the feat four times.
