Tom Brady, one of the most talented athletes to emerge from America, has officially become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. A seven-time champion of the iconic Super Bowl, Brady has purchased a minority share of the NFL franchise, as per several sources on the web.

Brady received 24 of the 32 votes needed from fellow team owners during the league’s annual fall meeting on Tuesday, making him the latest team owner in the NFL. The legendary quarterback, best known for his time with the Patriots and Buccaneers, now boasts owning 5% of the Raiders.

While being an owner of the franchise seems to be a very lucrative deal, Brady will now be forced to surrender some of his ‘freedom’. According to Marca, the 47-year-old faces strict clauses that stops him from coming out of retirement and playing again, unless he decides to sell his stake at the Las Vegas Raiders.

To ensure his role as a broadcaster with Fox remains unbiased, Brady is not allowed to criticize teams, officials or attend production meetings. Besides that, he also can’t access team facilities of all the other teams in the NFL except that of the Raiders.

Despite now facing a set of new challenges as per the new deal, Brady sees the opportunity to be an owner in the NFL as a blessing. In a lengthy statement posted on his official X account (formerly Twitter), the former player said he was humbled to have been unanimously voted as an owner.

“I’m incredibly humbled and excited to have been unanimously approved as an owner of the Las Vegas Raiders… I’m eager to contribute to the organization in any way I can, honoring the Raiders’ rich tradition while finding every possible opportunity to improve our offering to fans.” Part of the lengthy statement posted on Brady’s X page reads.

Brady also gave his appreciations to Mark Davis (the controlling owner of the Las Vegas Raiders) for welcoming him into his family. He also thanked NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, his partner Tom Wagner, among others for helping him achieve his dream.

Brady wanted to become one of the owners of Raiders early last year but it took 17 months for the agreement to be reached since there were concerns that he getting a huge discount from Davis. His job as a broadcaster was also another challenge. His broadcasting deal is worth a whopping $375 million.

Richard Seymour’s Las Vegas Raiders Bid Approved

Also on Tuesday, Pro Football Hall of Famer Richard Seymour received approval to purchase the Raiders. Seymour and Brady have been teammates at one point during their playing days, with both sharing the pitch at New England. The 45-year-old has also purchased a minority stake of the franchise and posted on X that he was “deeply grateful – humbled and honored” to become an owner in the prestigious NFL.

Whereas Brady doesn’t have history with the Raiders, Seymour is a former player of the franchise having been traded there by the Patriots.

Considering the fact that he hasn’t been receiving plenty of attention since ending his playing career, Seymour’s interest in becoming a minority owner of the Raiders got little media coverage. Since he doesn’t work as a game analyst in any of the major broadcasting companies that have partnered with the NFL, there are no restrictions that apply to him.
