Boston Celtics Game 5 highlights are impressive after a second and final thrashing of Cleveland Cavaliers 113-98.
The unstoppable Celtics ended Cavaliers’ dream of final NBA playoffs pushing them to the bench until the season ends.
On Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 113-98 in Game 5 of their second-round series. This means that the Celtics have another date at the Eastern Conference finals of the NBA playoffs.
The Celtics are making their sixth appearance in the Eastern Conference finals, this being the third time in a row.
Boston Celtics Game 5 Highlights
Their victory over Cleveland Cavaliers successfully ended their run in the five-game series. The victory booked another thrilling round of basketball between the indomitable Celtics and Indiana Pacers or New York Knicks for the NBA Finals.
Cleveland Cavaliers entered Game 5 on Wednesday night in a desperate scenario. Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, and point guard Donovan Mitchell were missing in action for their last game in the playoff series.
LeVert was away due to a knee injury, and Mitchell missed his second straight game due to a calf issue. It was LeVert who sat in for Mitchell in Game 4 which the Cavs lost gallantly.

The Cavaliers held strong, taking the lead in the first half and maintaining a lead until the Celtics started to pull away in the middle of the fourth quarter.
They proved their lethal nature having defeated the Miami Heat without Jimmy Butler in the first round of the playoffs. Thus, it was just a matter of time before they obliterated the Cleveland Cavaliers who, in Game 5, were the weakest with three team All-stars missing in action.
The team made 19 3-pointers and had a 52.5% shooting percentage from the field. With six different players scoring in double figures, they experienced a quiet game from Jaylen Brown who scored 11 points.
Al Horford of the Celtics, who is entering his 17th season, played exceptionally well in the Cavaliers’ Game 5 playoff.
By the end of the game, Horford had 15 rebounds, five assists, and 25 points. As he closely approaches 38, he saved the day with six 3-pointers and tackled Cavs’ Darius Garland all through the match.
Al Horford quickly switched to an offensive guard, blocking three shots, and stopping the soaring out of bounds.
It was a phenomenal performance from the less-talked-about Celtics player who, yet again, secured a conference final for the team.
Will Boston Celtics Win the NBA Finals?
The green-themed team rules the Eastern Conference but they haven’t been so lucky to win the title in the six years they have played in the finals.
However, the 2024 season could be the year that will finally end this title dry spell considering how great they are playing.

However, Kristaps Porzingis is currently out due to a calf injury and this could affect their performance in the finals. Porzingis will still be out of play during the NBA Finals.
Moreover, the Celtics’ performance was below expectations in Game 5 but they still prevailed to move to 8-2 in the series. If nothing changes for them, they may not be as lucky in the conference finals.
Still, they stand a chance if Jayson Tatum’s performance in Game 5 is anything to go by. He nearly earned a triple-double like Luka Doncic but didn’t exactly get there. However, he averaged 10 rebounds, four steals and 9 assists wholesomely earning him 25 points in the whole game.
He is a natural scorer and if the Celtics are to win this title, Tatum needs to play more aggressively to keep his jumpers in check.
Lastly, Marcus Morris should deploy his on-court shooting skills. He finished the first three games of the playoffs with seven points in 30 minutes.
Morris scored another 25 clear points for the Celtics on Wednesday night thereby sealing the team’s victory in Game 5.
