Diogo Jota, Liverpool picked up a recent injury that will see him sidelined for two weeks, as confirmed by the club’s manager Jurgen Klopp. He sustained the injury during a Liverpool vs Brentford match.

Jota was signed by Liverpool in 2020 at a fee of $55 million and his aerial ability brought competition for places, pushing the established player to even play better. He could play across the front line, as a central striker or a wide attacker.

He began playing for Ginasio de Corroios before he was enrolled at the Benfica youth academy, where he climbed the ranks eventually making his debut for the Benfica B team. His way through to the first-team was not easy and to get regular playing time, he opted for loan spells at FC Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

His loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers was successful, quickly becoming a fan favorite and scoring goals. He also played a big role in Wolves Premier League promotion and his performances continued to impress including a memorable hat-trick against Leicester City.

After a successful loan with Wolverhampton, he made a permanent move for the club in 2018, he was signed by English Premier League club Liverpool at a fee of $55 million, adding another dimension to their already potent attack. His performance continued to impress and became a valuable asset to the club.

His performance at the club level earned him a place on the international stage and having represented Portugal at various youth levels, he made his senior debut in 2019, establishing himself as a key member of the national squad, and playing a role in their UEFA Nations League victory and featuring in Euro 2020.

Jota’s injury

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager confirmed that Jota will be missing some matches for two weeks due to an injury he picked up during a Liverpool vs Brentford match. Jota scored a goal in the match, before sustaining the injury.

The manager addressed his fans and confirmed that the injury was not that bad and he will be sidelined for two weeks before his return.
