KCB RFC dominated Northern Suburbs with a commanding 65-07 victory in the Enterprise Cup quarterfinals, securing their spot in the Cup semis in a match played at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka.

The bankers are looking to finish the season with something in their cabinet, having seen their Kenya Cup hopes dashed following defeat to Kabras Sugar in the final in Kakamega.

Against Northern Suburbs, KCB was definitely the favourite heading into the tie. However, the game kicked off on a slow note, the heavy rains pounding the city making it difficult to pick up pace and play with tempo and panache.

However, KCB broke the deadlock when Kolian Persian scored the first try, followed by Emmanuel Opondi, Austin Sikutwa, and captain Griffin Musila, each adding a try to the scoreboard. Opondi successfully converted the tries, contributing to KCB’s lead.

By halftime, the scores stood at 33-0 in favour of the bankers.

In the second half, Musila secured his second try of the game, with Kolian, Levi Amunga, Horus Olela, and Peter Kilonzo further extending the Bankers’ lead with additional tries.

Despite the one-sided affair, Northern Suburbs managed to salvage a try through Meshack Opagala, with Alex Owuor successfully converting, earning them a much-needed 7 points.

Speaking at full time, KCB RFC Head Coach Curtis Olago said he was delighted with the performance of his team and how they executed their game plan.

“We are happy for the win. Despite the pitch condition, we managed to control the better part of the game, and this shows a good improvement for the boys. We are just one game away from the finals, and we aim to win each and every game to make sure we bag this cup,” the tactician said.

The Enterprise Cup semis, which were slated for next weekend, have been pushed forward to June 1st to pave the way for the Rugby Super Series, which will run from May 4th to May 25th, 2024.

“Right now, we are shifting our focus to the super series. We have a tough task ahead given that some of our players are away representing the national team in various assignments, but we know we have to maximise what we have to advance in every competition that lies ahead,” further noted the coach.
