Evan Ndicka spent several hours at Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital in Udine before being discharged on Monday. Hospital tests showed he did not suffer a heart attack but had chest pains. More tests will be carried out in Rome.

AS Roma released a statement on Ndicka’s health on Monday and appreciated everyone for showing professionalism when the incident occurred.

The player has been discharged and will carry out further checks in Rome. AS Roma would like to thank Udinese and the referee Luca Pairetto for their great professionalism and the medical and healthcare staff of the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine. All together, in those apprehensive minutes, we demonstrated the values of sport and put the protection of life first.” Roma said on their statement, as per BBC

Evan Ndicka joined AS Roma from Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 on a free transfer. He has been a key player for the Italian side since his arrival and has so far made 19 appearances.

Roma boss Daniele De Rossi sent a light-hearted message to Ndicka while speaking to Sky Italia telling him to get better soon because he needs him this week during the second leg of their clash with AC Milan in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals.

Ndicka was born in France but plays for the Ivory Coast national team at international level. The 24-year-old was part of Ivory Coast’s team that won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) played at the start of this year. His trophy cabinet also includes the UEFA Europa League which he won in 2022 while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.

When Will Udinese Vs Roma Resume?

Serie A

The Udinese vs Roma match was suspended in the 72nd minute on Sunday after Evan Ndicka collapsed on the pitch. At the moment, the Serie A is yet to announce when the match will be played again. Fans will be made aware as soon as both clubs agree on a mutual date.

However, it’s good to note that the match will resume from the 72nd minute due to a specific set of Serie A rules that differ to the majority of major leagues across the world.

According to the rules, matches must resume from the minute when the game was originally stopped and teams must use the same line-ups. This means that only players who were on the pitch at the time are eligible to play as those who had already been substituted off will not be allowed to play again.

On that note, Roma will not field Dean Huijsen and Houssem Aouar when the Udinese vs Roma match will resume because they had already made way for Rick Karsdorp and Paulo Dybala, respectively. Udinese, on the other hand, will have to play without Kingsley Ehizibue and Hassane Kamara since they were substituted for Joao Ferreira and Jordan Zemura, respectively.

The scores when the Udinese vs Roma match was halted was 1-1 as Romelu Lukaku had equalized for De Rossi’s side after Roberto Pereyra had given Udinese an early lead.
