Rodri

Rodri rejoined the team for the exciting 3-3 draw with Brazil at the Bernabeu after missing Spain’s 1-0 loss to Colombia in their opening match of the break.

The Manchester City midfielder won six defensive duels and completed 94.9% of his passes, including 8/8 long balls, while playing flawlessly. The night’s La Roja captain, Rodri, added two more goals, both of which he scored emphatically after accepting responsibility for the penalty.

Perhaps the only elite player on the Spanish team at the moment, he excels in the defensive midfield position and is the finest in the industry.

Noni Madueke

After two brilliant performances for England’s under-21 team, Noni Madueke will be hoping that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has kept a careful watch on the international break.

The winger scored in the team’s 5-1 thumping of Azerbaijan before taking center stage in their 7-0 crushing of Luxembourg in the return match for Lee Carsley’s team.

With two goals and two assists in a decisive victory, Madueke led the way for the European champions, who have already scored 32 goals in their seven games to qualify for the 2025 tournament.

Youri Tielemans, scored twice in Belgium’s 2-2 tie with England while playing in an advanced midfield position.

At Wembley, the venue of his FA Cup final victory for Leicester in 2021, Tielemans opened the score. He did so by taking advantage of a mistake made by Jordan Pickford, who gave away the ball and finishing low with his left foot from the edge of the box.

As Belgium led at the interval, the 26-year-old added a second goal. He did this by getting to the back post and nodding in Romelu Lukaku’s outside-of-the-boot cross to give the visitors a lead again.

This was a better effort from Domenico Tedesco’s team, with Tielemans at the center, following a lackluster showing by Belgium in the goalless draw with Ireland last week.

Bruno Fernandes

Roberto Martinez’s team defeated Sweden with a masterful performance led by Bruno Fernandes for Portugal.

The underappreciated individual season of the Manchester United midfielder saw him score one goal and assist on another in the team’s 5-2 victory against the Scandinavians.

At the international level, Fernandes continues to be the driving force behind the Portuguese squad, ranking first in Europe’s top five leagues for shot-creating actions (162) and critical passes (82).

Portugal will go into this summer’s competition with genuine hopes of lifting the title, but Martinez’s winning streak came to a stop on Tuesday when they lost to Slovenia with a rotated squad—minus Fernandes.

Mykhailo Mudryk

After a difficult season at Chelsea, Mykhailo Mudryk recovered to execute a monumental performance and secure Ukraine’s spot at Euro 2024.

Losing down to a spectacular goal from Albert Gudmundsson, Ukraine rallied to defeat Iceland and secure their place in this summer’s championship in Germany. With six minutes remaining, Viktor Tsygankov cut inside to drill in a low finish to tie the score. Then, Mudryk’s chance came.

Serhiy Rebrov’s team advanced when the 23-year-old swept in a finish after a cut-back by Georgiy Sudakov. Ukraine, who will participate in its first international competition since Russia’s invasion of the nation, will be placed in Group E at Euro 2024 with Belgium, Slovakia, and Romania.

This month, Mainoo got his England debut as a substitute against Brazil. Coming off the bench against the five-time world winners, he appeared unaffected. In the match that followed, he was given his first start against Belgium and left the field with the man-of-the-match trophy at Wembley.

The young Manchester United player, who has never displayed any indications of being overawed in his professional career thus far, has a certain something about him. His composure and deftness under pressure have made him a strong candidate to start in Gareth Southgate’s midfield at Euro 2024, as well as to travel there.
