  • Barcelona offers Everton a choice of four players for Amadou Onana
  • Onana is the best suit for Barcelona this summer
  • Everton is asking for a $65 million transfer fee

Barcelona has shown interest in the young midfielder Amadou Onana and has offered Everton four players in a swap for Onana. He is a top spot for several top clubs this summer but Barcelona seems to lead in the list.

Amadou Onana is a 22-year-old midfielder who plays for Premier League club Everton and the Belgium national team world-class and has the potential to become a world-class player as he continues developing.

Everton could be up for grabs as they grapple with Financial Fair Play rules. On the other hand, Barcelona too have their financial troubles but they have come up with a solution of offering Everton a choice of four players plus cash.

The two clubs have a history of doing business together in the past, and they could end up striking a deal about his transfer this summer. In case they do, this will boost their midfield and by adding Onana into the list could make them shine.

Onana signed with Premier league club Everton in 2022 and since his arrival, he has shown promise, still integrating himself into the squad though the team is going through a transitional phase.

Everton has been inconsistent this season and his arrival hasn’t drastically transformed their results but has shown glimpses of potential to become a key player for the club. With experience, as he gels further with his teammates, his contribution could be more significant in future.

Amadou Onana biography

Amadou Onana is a young footballer who is currently making waves in the Premier League. The 22-year-old was born in Dakar, Senegal to a Senegalese mother and a Cameroonian father.

His father lived in Belgium and when the player was 11, he alongside his mother and sister moved to Brussels, Belgium to join his father. His passion for football blossomed in the country and he joined youth teams like Anderlecht, RWS Bruxelles and Zulte Waregem.

He secured a move to a German club Hoffenheim, a significant move in his career. During his time at the club, he became a regular player, featuring in over 40 matches across all competitions including the Champions league.

His performances at Hoffenheim caught the attention of several top clubs and in 2022, Everton secured his transfer, bringing him to the Premier League. His transition to English football has been smooth and his imposing presence has made him a valuable asset for Everton’s midfield.

Despite being born in Senegal, he chose to represent Belgium internationally with his impressive form leading to a call up to the national team the same season he was signed by Everton and earned his first cap the following month.

He was part of the Belgium squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but they were knocked out in the group stage after failing to win against Morocco and only narrowly defeating Canada.

Some unique things about Onana

Onana’s upbringing exposed him to several languages. He is fluent in five languages: Wolof, French, Dutch, German and English. This fluency allows him to connect with teammates and coaches from various backgrounds, fostering better communication and understanding within the team.

He started playing football on the streets of Brussels, a testament to his passion for the game that thrived without fancy facilities. He earned a nickname “The Octopus” among some fans because of his ability to control the midfield with his reach and defensive prowess.
