The list of the oldest NBA players in 2024 has some well known names, including veteran LeBron James, who is currently in his 21st season in the league. These players have proven age is just a number by competing in a league where others struggle to play even for one season.
Nat Hickey holds the record for the oldest NBA player of all time. He set the record back in 1948 at the age of 45 years and 363 days. He was initially his team’s coach when he decided to become a player instead. His record has been standing for over 70 years and it might take some time before someone actually breaks it because for a player to be in the NBA now with over 40 years then he is a special breed.
With that said, let’s take a look at the oldest NBA players in 2024:
1. LeBron James – 39

Currently playing in his 21st season, LeBron James tops the list of the oldest NBA players in 2024. The Los Angeles Lakers icons was the youngest player in the NBA when he made his debut more than 20 years old and is still pushing even after all the players he played with have retired.
King James is currently 39 and is no longer the unstoppable force he was a few years ago but still delivers when at crucial moments. The Kid from Akron, as he calls himself, has set several records over the years and is still thirsty for me. Many people believe that he is waiting for his son, Bronny James, to make his NBA debut before he retires. Bronny is currently 19 and plays for the USC Trojans of the Pac-12 Conference.
2. P.J. Tucker – 38
Los Angles Clippers power forward P.J. Tucker is one of the oldest NBA players in 2024. He is currently 38 but will be adding one more year to his age in May.
Tucker joined the NBA in 2006 after being picked in the second round by Toronto Raptors. After an unsuccessful first season in the league, he went to play for clubs in Israel, Ukraine, Germany and Italy before returning to the NBA and signing with Phoenix Suns.

Since then, he has played for various clubs, including Toronto Raptors, Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and currently Los Angeles Clippers. He has been regarded as a reliable perimeter defender and played a significant role as the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA championship in 2021.
3. Chris Paul – 38
Chris Paul will also be turning 39 in May, making him one of the oldest NBA players in 2024. Paul has been amazing over the years and despite his age, he is still doing magic in the court. He led the 2021-22 season in assists per game, a sign he is aging like fine wine.
However, he is yet to win an NBA Championship despite playing for five different teams over the years. Paul was picked as the fourth overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft by the New Orleans Hornets and has since played for Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns. His pursuit for an NBA title saw him sign with the Golden State Warriors last year.

4. Kyle Lowry – 38
Kyle Lowry just turned 38 a few days ago. Lowry will soon be retiring but one thing he has proven is age is just a number. The Philadelphia 76ers new signing continues to deliver when in court, just like he used to do when at the prime of his career. In his 76ers debut, he recorded 11 points, five assists and four rebounds. Despite the amazing performance, his side lost 110–96 to the New York Knicks.
Lowry is a six-time All-Star and boasts winning the NBA championship, a feat he achieved in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors. It was the first and only title in the Raptors’ history and Lowry has often been praised for his performance during his time with the franchise.
