He signed his first professional contract with Carlisle United in 2020 and made his professional debut in the EFL League Two at the young age of seventeen years, and his composure despite his age attracted interest from several Premier League clubs due to his promising potential.

In the summer of 2020, Everton secured Branthwaite’s signature, a move that represented a significant step up for the young defender, who initially featured for Everton’s U23 team, further developing his skills and adapting to the Premier League level.

To gain his first-team experience, he was sent on loan to Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship, gained valuable experience in a competitive league and a year later, he had another loan spell at PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie, which exposed him to a different playing style.

Branthwaite returned to Everton in 2023, earning herself a starting position in central defence due to injuries and departures from the squad. He also represented the England national team at various youth levels including U19, U20 and currently the U21 team.

He also played a role in England’s U21 victory at the 2023 European Championship and is currently on a transfer target by Manchester United.

Manchester United’s interest in Jarrad

Hearsay has it that the defender is in Manchester United’s eye and at 21 years is considered a highly promising young defender with a bright future. His height makes him a dominant force, crucial for defending set-pieces and crosses.

Branthwaite is also comfortable playing out from the back and building attacks from the defence. His young age also gives him room for significant growth and could become a cornerstone for United’s defence in future.

Everton might be open to selling him, especially if a substantial offer is presented. Manchester United might view him as a long-term solution compared to their current options. Manchester United’s boss Erik ten Hag is known for his preference for young talented players who can be developed into his system and in this case, Branthwaite fits this position perfectly well.

Is Everton ready for Branthwaite sell-out?

According to Everton’s manager Sean Dyche, he would like to retain talented players and highlighted the defender’s significant contributions to the team’s defence, desiring to keep him in the team.

A few months ago, the 21-year-old had a contract extension with Everton that is likely to hold him till 2027, and this is a clear indication that the club plans to keep him as he is a valuable asset.

However, with a good offer, the club could consider selling him out if they find a suitable defender to replace him. In conclusion, Everton must weigh options for them to get to their final decision.

Branthwaite career achievements

Though relatively young, the defender has made several achievements in his career. He started his professional career at a young age, making his debut for club Carlisle United in the EFL League Two at seventeen years old.
